warriors. The Silurians plan to launch the base's nuclear missiles,
thereby provoking a nuclear war between the two opposing power blocs and destroying all human life on Earth.
The Doctor and his companions, first mistaken as enemy spies and saboteurs, help the soldiers fight off the Silurians and their
deadly 'pet', the Myrka. The Doctor attempts to make peace but when unsuccessful, helps the humans destroy the invaders with
hexachromite, a gas deadly to all reptiles. The Doctor then successfully aborts the launch of the missiles.

FACTS:
This story marked the return of the Silurians and the Sea Devils,
foes of the Third Doctor who first appeared in 1970 and 1972 respectively.
The costume for the Myrka, the supposedly terrifying monster belonging to the Silurians had not been completed when it was required for studio,
consequently it had not dried properly and marked several actors with green paint!
