It transpires however that the tomb is actually a trap, designed to lure humans suitable to become Cybermen - a fate that almost befalls Toberman, Kaftan's mighty assistant. After fending off an attack by small but dangerous cybernetic creatures, Cybermats, the Doctor eventually defeats the Cybermen and their Controller, and reseals the tomb.
THE STORY
The TARDIS arrives on the planet Telos where an Earth archaeological expedition, led by Professor Parry, is attempting to uncover the lost tombs of the Cybermen . With a lot of help from the Doctor, the archaeologists enter the tombs. There, one of the party, Klieg, reveals that he and his business partner, Kaftan, are planning to revive the frozen Cybermen. he wants to use their strength to combine with the intelligence of his own Brotherhood of Logicians to become an all powerful force.

FACTS:
Toberman was described in the original scripts as wearing a hearing aid (relating to the fact that he was virtually mute and possibly to the theme of cyberisation). The idea was dropped at the request of director Morris Barry.
The Doctor guesses that he might be about 450 years old in Earth terms.
The gigantic Cyber Controller, who leads the Cybermen in this story made a reappearance in the 1985 story 'Attack of the Cybermen', played on both occasions by Michael Kilgariff.
