BORO-ORI
BORO-ORI tear weaving is a traditional handicraft,
having been popular
among wives of olden day Otari villagers
and has now survived.
Beautiful and tasteful products of this technique
are sold nowadays as souvenirs.
When ready to make this Boro-ori, wives will
go into attics of old farm houses
to find old clothes, such as of Kimonos and
bedding covers.
They will tear them into strips of material.
It needs perseverance and mastery skills
as well as recycling ability and love for
old things.
