What a volcanoe is
A volcanoe is quite simply an exploding
mountain. On this site, you can find info on
particular volcanoes, and many other things
that have to do with volcanoes. So what causes
them? Magma is forced up to the top of the
Earth. Eventually, it creates a mountain. This can take thousands of years.Volcanoes often erupt. But what is an eruption?
As said above, volcanoes are exploding
mountains. When the magma finally reaches
the surface, it spews out of the top of the volcanoe.
That's an eruption. The magma becomes lava,
but you'll have to go further into my site to
find out more. One other thing that helps to create volcanoes
are plates. Not dinner plates, the kind under
the ground. A while back, Alfred Weneger
introduced the theory of plate tectonics.
It states that the continents were all one large land mass a long time ago. It was called Pangea. It also states the the crust is floating
on plates, that are constantly moving. Thats why
there is no more pangea. The plates also cause
earthquakes. And now, on to my site.
