This is my
What is a
volcano???? A volcano is a cone which is formed above and around a vent
by erupting material like ash, lava and other volcanic material.
There are 3 main types of volcano. Composite Volcanoes-formed by alternating
rock and lava layers. Shield volcano-formed from hot spots which are usually
at the edge of tectonic plate. Cinder Cones Volcanoes-built from
lava fragments. The lava fragments created vent and those vents created
the cinder cones
Did you here
that? Oh no a volcano is erupting. AHHHHH!! But wait how does a volcano
erupt. When MAGMA CHAMBER forces up MAGMA up to the earth's surface.
This MAGMA is forces up by pressure and heat. And then when the MAGMA
CHAMBER is full the MAGMA blows into the air causing a "volcanic eruption."
Talk about
hot!! And speaking of hot let's talk about HOT SPOTS. Hot spots are
areas in the Earth's mantle that are hotter than the neighboring areas,
forming melted rock that rises toward the crust.
This is J13H
with your volcano hazard information. What's is a volcano
hazard? It refers to the affect of the volcan's eruption after it erupt.
A volcano hazard also has something call a volcano risk.
And a volcano risk is the loss of jobs, building, homes, and lives.
These volcano hazard can be a deadly thing if a volcano does erupt.
Volcanoes are deadly and harmful to the earth. But as you know volcanoes
can help us too.
So know what
volcanoes can do but how do they do it. What causes a volcano to
erupt. Down in the Earth rock that hard to melt began to melt.
When all that rock begins to melt the MAGMA CHAMBER begins to fill up with
the melted rock now MAGMA. And the MAGMA fill up to the top the volcano
erupts and that MAGMA turn into LAVA.
Are you prepare
for a volcano eruption? Here are some signs of a volcano eruptiong:
1. Earthquakes occur and
that could make the MAGMA flows up because of the upward movement of the
earthquake.
2. Seismographs
can detect movement around the volcano which could lead to a eruption.
3. Time. Scientist
can predict when the next eruption will take place from the history of
the eruption the volcano has had.
Now for the
good stuff! Well, sort of. I'm going to tell you two volcanoes
that erupt. This help with a project. Don't worry I won't sue
if you use my examples.
Just 4 days
ago (November 9, 2000) a volcano erupt in Japan.
Here are the latitude and longitude:
42 N , 140 E. The name of this volcano is Komagatake in English:
I don't know. No deaths or injurings were reported. The ash
went to almost 4,000 feet in the air. The volcano's elevation is
1,133 mile high. The eruption lasted than 10 minutes.
Nov. 10, 2000
Mexico's volcano Popocatepetl, erupted again. The last update was
November, 14 but no infomation. 19 North and 99 West are the laditude
and longitude. The elevation of the volcano is 17,884 feet. The volcano
experience activty for many weeks. The eruption last 13 minutes.
