Mt. Vesuvius

Located in Italy, it is the only active volcano in Europe.
It caused the eruption of 79 B.C. that destroyed two Roman cities, Pompei and Ercolano.
It is located near a plate. It is a composite volcano, made up of ash and lava layers.
 It can have two kinds of eruptions. One of these produces mostly ash and
            cinders. The other kind of eruption produces lava. In Vesuvius these two types of eruption has not been known to happen together.
