Police hunting down person planting bombs at Pattimura airport
Ambon, Maluku (ANTARA News) - The local police is hunting down a person
suspected of planting two locally assembled bombs at the yard of Pattimura airport
here recently.
"It is true that the Bagula police resort is conducting an investigation including
interrogating three witnesses who found the bombs put in two plastic bags," chief of
the Maluku provincial police`s public relations service Adjunct Chief Commissioner
D.A. Widjarnarko said on Tuesday.
The bombs were defused by a bomb defusing squad from the Maluku provincial police
after receiving information from the three witnesses who work as cleaning men at the
airport.
"We do not know exactly what is the motive behind the case," he said.Ambon was
the scene of sectarian conflict several years ago that killed thousands of people
before the warring camps signed a peace accord.(*)
