Man released after questioning
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Police released one Mulyono alias Mul on Saturday after no
evidence was found that he was involved in a bomb blast at a Christian market in Palu
last week that killed seven people. Mulyono had been detained since Dec. 31 after a
report from locals that he was at the bomb scene a few hours before the powerful
blast went off on Dec. 31.
But, the 58-year-old Mulyono, who hails from Central Java, denied he was involved in
the bombing. He said he was present at the bomb scene as he was looking for the
man who was planning to marry his niece. "I no nothing about the bombing," said
Mulyono after being released from custody at Central Sulawesi Police Headquarters.
Central Sulawesi Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Rais D. Adam said the police
were questioning another person about the bomb blast. The police are also looking for
the driver of a red Isuzu Panther van. The bomb was allegedly thrown into the market
from the van. -- JP
