Terror suspect arrested in Malang
MALANG, East Java: Officers from the Malang Police arrested on Friday a man they
suspect was recruited as a would-be suicide bomber by the terrorist network linked
with Noordin M. Top and the deceased Azahari.
Malang Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Ismail Isja said the man, identified as Suedi
Mokhammad Mansur, 27, was arrested after leaving a bag with a food stall owner near
the campus of Kanjuruhan University. No detail was available on the content of the
bag.
After arresting the suspect, police found a note on him expressing sympathy over the
death of Azahari, who was killed in a police raid in November. They also found an
excerpt of a poem written by Imam Samudra, a convicted Bali bomber.
During questioning at the police station, the suspect said he wrote the notes on the
instruction of three people he met in front of the Malang Grand Mosque.
Suedi said he became acquainted with the three people last June, but did not known
their names. He said they were preaching Islam and had promised to find him a job.
The suspect said the three people had asked him if he was brave enough to carry a
