David K. Winter was born in Wheeling, Ohio Co., (West) Virginia, and Sarah Elizabeth Spurgin was born in Rowen County, North Carolina. It is unclear where David K. (Keller?) Winter died, but it's believed he died in or near Jefferson Co., Missouri. They were married on April 10, 1828 in Bartholomew County, Indiana. They had the following children:

William Henry Winters & Helen Louise Fredricks

William Henry Winters was born in Bartholomew County, Indiana, and Helen Louise Fredricks was born in Michigan. It is unclear where or how William Henry Winters died. It is said that he died by drowning in the Snake River, but according to a story his daughter wrote, they found their father dead on a mountain. It looked as though he had been murdered. I have not (yet) found evidence either way. Helen Louise Fredericks died in Wallowa Co., Oregon. It's unclear that they were ever married. If they were, it was by common law. The date given for their marriage was July 18, 1857. One humorous note about William is that he changed his last name from Winter to Winters because he didn't want to be known as "Old Man Winter". William and Helen had the following children:

Jane Ann Winter & James Melvin Fuller

In 1898 David's health failed and he sought relief in southern California. His death occurred there, on June 14, 1898. Buried on June 29, 1898 at District Cemetary, formerly known as, Odd Fellows Cemetary, at Paso Robles, California. Cemetery records indicate he died of an accident, but it is thought that he was murdered. Charlotte O’Neill was born in Cameron, Clinton Co., Missouri. The 1900 Idaho Census indicates that Charlotte was a widow and head of the household at 62 years old, and her occupation was a housekeeper. She died of pneumonia in Pine, Elmore Co., Idaho. It took less than a week after contracting pneumonia for Charlotte to die. She died on a Tuesday. They had the following children:
