Creation of Mobile Suits

I would first like to show you to the Gundam Project's After Colony Timeline. I used it as a base to foster my own theories.

The First Mobile Suit | |||
The five scientists: Doctor J, Professor G, Doktor S, Instructor H, Master O, and Howard completed building the first combat-efficient Mobile Suit called the Tallgeese. Being far more advanced than its successors, the Tallgeese would eventually be piloted by Zechs Merquise to be used against the vastly superior Gundams. The Tallgeese was the model for all Mobile Suits to come, including the Gundams. The Leo was built as a scaled-down version of the Tallgeese, mass-produced for the average soldier to pilot. Specializing in nothing, the Aries, Tragos, Cancer, and Pisces were all built to diversify Mobile Suits into performing specific jobs, such as flight, fire-support, and maritime operations.

The Wing Zero and its Variations
Also designed by the five scientists, the Wing Zero was never completed after the five scientists split up from being persued by OZ. Each scientist went on to built their own Gundam based on the Wing Zero design. The Wing Gundam comes closest to the original, while the other Gundams are based on a certain aspect of the Wing Zero that each scientist contributed to it. The Wing Zero schematics were stored only the Winner family's computer after Instructor H was brought to live there with them. After the destruction of the Sandrock, Quatre finds these plans and brings the Wing Zero to reality.

Roles of the Gundams | |||
Each Gundam was built to serve in a specific fashion. I'll organize this into a military fire-team fashion. Wing - squad leader -Not limited to the same ground based restrictions as its comrades, the Wing's only powerful weapon, the Buster Rifle, can be used to take out targets of importance with a single shot. Best used from the rear, the Wing can change to Mobile Armor mode and get an idea of the opposition facing the Gundams. Deathscythe - sniper -Specializing speed and stealth, and having powerful close-combat weapons at its disposal, the Deathscythe operates well as a single target eliminator. Had the Deathscythe a long-range beam rifle, it would function as a scout/sniper. The Deathscythe would be used to destroy individual targets of importance, such as the leader, machine gunner, or communications of the enemy. Heavyarms - machine gunner -Having the greatest amount of firepower of all the Gundams, the Heavyarms is best used from a position that will allow it to utilize its weapons to cover the entire battlefield in a hail of bullets, allowing the close-combat Gundams to move in and defeat the enemy. Sandrock - assistant gunner -The Sandrock is the heaviest armored of all the Gundams. It should be at the front to keep enemy fire from the rest of the team. Needing to be at close range to use its heat shorters, it should always be in a position to use its heat shorters and homing missiles. Shenlong - pointman -Close combat is the Shenlong's specialty. Positioned at the front of the group, the Shenlong could take out any enemy that gets within range of the team. Then moving on its own, the Shenlong could take out the front lines of the enemy forces. |

Mobile Dolls | |||
While it has always been the dream of man to wage war without the cost of human lives, Trieze Kushrenada stated it best when he said that when human lives are not lost in war, it becomes a game for beaucrats and nations to battle each other for territory or political gain. Mobile Dolls were built to save lives, but at the same time, more lives would be lost from the lack of compassion from these unfeeling machines. When man is taken out of the equation in war, war becomes a battle with one side achieving victory not because they had better troops, just more of them. Without the loss of life, war loses its meaning, and the abilities of a soldier become useless. There would be no military, Mobile Dolls would become political weapons, much like nuclear weapons are now. The threat of a greater destructive force would scare countries into submission, and people would live in fear of their representatives actions towards opposing nations. Mobile Dolls were built to replace humans on the battlefield. The Taurus Mobile Suits were the first to be built with the Mobile Doll system. Generally, Taurus' would be controlled by a human also piloting a Taurus. However, the Taurus' could also be set to automatic target acquisition, which sometimes didn't work as well as it should. The Taurus Mobile Dolls had far greater reaction time than any human pilot, but this could be countered with close-combat, limiting the amount of time the Mobile Dolls could react. The Virgo Mobile Doll cannot be piloted by a human at all. The Virgo uses technology from the Vayeate (beam cannon with generator) and Mercurius (planet defensors) to provide a well-rounded Mobile Doll. Virgo's were made of Gundanium armor, and their beam cannons could destroy even the Gundams. The Virgo II's were even stronger than their predecessors. While they had no built-in beam weapons, the Virgo II's did use twice the amount of planet defensors, doubling their defensive area. Ability total-wise, the Virgo II's were very close to the capabilities of the original five Gundams. The Virgo II's were also sometimes controlled via a Zero-type system, which randomized their movements and gave the Virgo II's a strategy to accomplish the mission. |

Upgrades to the Gundams
All five Gundams were upgraded somehow, whether caused from restoration after being destroyed or an upgrade to battle in space. Wing Zero - Actually a fifteen year-old design, the Wing Zero has the greatest abilities of all the Gundams. Its speed matches that of the original Deathscythe, and it gains significantly in fighting and power, with additional boosts in weapons and armor. Also equipped with the Zero System, the Wing Zero has a reaction time equal to or greater than that of the Mobile Dolls. Deathscythe Hell - After being destroyed, the Deathscythe was rebuilt by the scientists and upgraded to the Deathscythe Hell. Improving upon its already impressive speed, the Deathscythe Hell is the fastest moving Gundam in Gundam Wing. The Deathscythe Hell also recieves a major upgrade by the addition of the active cloak, which brings the Deathscythe Hell's armor ability 20 points. The Deathscythe Hell also acquires a twin beam scythe and adds to its potential at close-combat fighting. Heavyarms Kai (unofficial) - The Heavyarms was upgraded for battle in space, which added a large increase to speed from all the boosters needed to maneuver in space. Also increasing its firepower from the addition of a second beam gatling, the Heavyarms required larger and more powerful arm actuators to handle the additional weight on its arm and to be able to slice through Virgo armor with the army knife. Sandrock Kai (unofficial) - Also upgraded for combat in space, the Sandrock receives the same boost to speed as the Heavyarms due to the same upgrade. Gaining a beam machinegun, this adds to the Sandrock's long-range arsenal. The Sandrock also gains additional armor, to boost its main attribute 10 points as all its other comrades have gained and to sustain the damage dealt from Virgo weaponry. Altron - After being captured by the enemy, the Shenlong recieved an upgrade from the five scientists. The Altron's close-range weaponry now included another dragon fang with two more flamethrowers mounted within it, and the beam glaive was upgraded into a twin beam trident. Long-range weaponry included dual beam cannons strong enough to destroy Virgo Mobile Dolls. The Altron benefited greatly in weapons, and its main fighting attribute also increased. |
