Editorial: "A Light for the Lonely"
Salutations! I can't contain this...the Gateway (link above) surpassed 5000 hits this week! Not bad for a week short of three months on our return to the net, huh? And seeing I still haven't found our listing on any of the major search engines we must say we are more than pleased!
With a little simple 'math magic'...and I don't care to go far beyond simple!...this nice, round number can bring a lot of raw 'statistical' data...
With 67 (???) members it is safe to say just over one in one hundred actually join. While I don't claim to be able to read 5000 minds (not that well, anyway!) I am assuming the majority of visitors come out of curiosity and simply find what they need and continue along that path. Still, that's what we're here for and what we take great pride in: providing a safe and welcoming haven for net gamers worldwide.
What really keeps us going is that, including members and not accounting for repeat visits, fully 20% of these visitors hit a free Union Sponsor that pays us and nearly 10% visit a merchant site AND buy something!
I know what some are thinking...'wow, Monty, you must be getting rich!' Not hardly, as any who have played the net sponsor game can tell ye, but I am getting to the point to where I can maintain a modest living at this....now to make enough to hire a secretary and take a few days off!
All that aside I want to say it REALLY warms my heart to be back and providing the 'lighthouse' to a safe harbour for gamers on the net. No, I won't rant on this again but we are on a mission to gather all those who are abused on the net while simply trying to learn to role-play amid what must be the vermin of society who somehow manage to figure out how to type AND spit thier venom onto the internet!
Whew! Okay, no rants! I want to say I thank all ye who have visited our new sponsors, particularly the US Armed Forces. Even without their support I know there are over twenty members of the old Union (including 'Tom' here at Union Home!) who joined the military partly as a result of our Alliance and the desire we create in many to protect all from tyranny worldwide! I nae know if it was from curiosity or real interest but we salute thee...our government pays us well just for your passing interest!
Website developments this week include a rename of the RPG Universal Alliance to The Galactic Federation to waylay any confusions to our VERY IRL Universal Alliance which has been created to promote worldwide harmony and unity on all 'earthly' fronts. Remember there are some great games at the GF for you SF RPGers and there are more in the works! Read on for more great additions!
Don't forget to visit Union Town and NEW WASHINGTON to support our Alliance by just clicking on the freebies and buying there what you'd get somewhere else anyway. We have many exciting projects that will benefit all members and visitors which are simply awaitng the needed funds to proceed!

Union Welcomes NetGames!
The KEEP of the ELITE KNIGHTS of our UNION now proudly hosts NetGames as our 'Chess Room' (soon to be in other Union locations!) where ye may go play several games over the net with real live opponents! LW Terak has said he will take on all comers!
There are TONS of other games there and soon, as more are approved for Knight Rank Points, the name will surely be changed to the 'Gaming Room' . Here, ye'll be able to RP ye be gaming an IC opponent while IRL your mun will be playing OOC! Did that make sense?!?

Tavern Still Climbing!
Notwithstanding increases in other clubs memberships, the Magickal Tavern has moved up to #8 in the Yahoo! Top 50 RPG Clubs! Many have yet to join...please get in there folks! We're on our way to #1 !!!
Also if ye have yet to get to the original Nation of Union and sign up for our 'formal' events...remember 'formal dress' is desired, never required and that's where we'll hold our Balls, Festivals and Events. Also, close to getting on the Top 50 itself, if will provide a 'double whammy' for us on that list!
Sir Tigger Hosts Tavern, Builds Keep
As of tonight (Friday the 21st) Tigger will be taking over the weekend hosting duties at the Tavern so Monty may turn his efforts to increasing sales during this high traffic time. In his own words, "same tav time same tav place 10pm EST hope to see all the members there should be a very "BOUNCY" night."
Monty as such will be cutting his Saturday hosting and moving to the Nation site for his Wednesday meeting. And let's not forget Sir Malik in the Tavern on Monday's too!
Also please visit his new Tigger's Wonder Keep now located in The Nation of Union West. He has established it as both a Knights' and Mages' Keep and this week alone he has greatly improved it!
As if that weren't enough guess who's been on a recruitment spree? Monty has gone with Tigger on a few of these 'bouncy' trips and simply stood in amazement as he worked his 'Tigger Magicks'!

Everyone has noticed the strange Mage who refers to himself as Mayhem lurking about Union's gate. Who is this man? Why is he here? Herein lies a mystery for all who wish to search for clues to who this man truly is and what omens his appearance brings Union. Your only clue: The answers are in Union, somewhere! Meet in the Tavern and Keep to discuss your findings. An IRL prize will be awarded the member(s) who might solve this enigma!

Lord/Lady of the Land (LotL): Union Council post in desperate need of filling! This position currently requires less than three hours work per week and entails:
* Checking all Union Proper and Affiliate Links (Other than the Libraries) to assure they are up to date and in workin order.
High Priest/Priestess: This Post requires assisting Monty in the rebuilding of the Palace Temple and overseeing the recruitment and training of incoming priests. Some ceremonial duties may include conducting marriages and christenings. Applicant should be of sound moral character and tolerant of the beliefs of others.
Union Knights: Always 'hiring'! please read the handbook at the Library and now in the Knights' Keep ('runes' above). If ye have the metal and courage to join us, please do! No duties required but rank may be gained swiftly for: Tavern Hosts, FFRPG Proctors, Game Masters and Recruiters,to name a few. Please send an application or letter stating your interest.

Darthon's Claymore 32 lbs, 62 in, the original sword of Darthon himself, 'battle scars' included! Lord Montahon hates to part with it but shall if a good offer is made!
Mage Mayhem's Robes Truly magical! These appear as normal robes with a hood but become 'faceless' when reversed. Rare and no longer available (for now!), these are in Union royal purple and drop 48 in from the shoulder. Write Monty with an offer!
