The UA/GF extends its heartfelt sympathy to those who so senselessly lost their lives to such cowardly actions:

"I must enter the tower and I must do so now!" She spoke with a vehemence that overwhelmed even Darion. He helped her stand before them, seeing the injuries she had taken were all but the best of her.
"You may M'Lady, but only you!" replied the youthful guard, "It is my order that only one may ascend the tower and do so at their own risk! As strong as it stands it is under constant attack and may be the death of you and the entourage that must accompany you! I beg you don't go but have no means of ordering you not to do so! With so few fighters remaining, you will have to enter with my sister and cousin, both poorly prepared for battle."
"Call them forward, for there is nothing left for us to do," Michellana uttered as if she herself was to be the demise of these children. With but a gesture of the sentry two youthful warriors stood before her. One young fighter approached her, in chain clearly too large for his boyish frame. She all but gasped as an all too familiar vision came upon her, that of Sara some years past but without the signs of womanhood she had always known. The sparkling golden hair fell over her shoulders, the look of cheerful purpose remained in her eyes.
"Hello, we will accompany you to the tower," said she in a way that took Michellana back through time, to the meeting of a friend she had met tears past, "This is my cousin Alfred and who might be ye? I am Clara."
"Michellana." She could only answer in a whisper as she looked at the child then toward who she might become, Sara busy tending the wounds of those in the chamber behind her. "Let us carry on."
The three were at once granted egress and began ascending the spiral stairs. Many a sad tale was heard as they climbed. In one room a knight neared death, in another a maid cried as she tended the mortal wounds of her master, in the next a lady mother tried to calm her son...
"Momma, I am hungry."
"There is no food for us tonight, my child...come rest here in my lap."
Depression has many definitions, most with some very negative connotations. Most all of us are facing it, in the forms of sadness over the plight of our nation and the resulting financial hardships that have already gripped many Americans and indeed the entire world.
Unfortunately Union is being devastated by both. Activity is down and therefore sponsor visits, to the point that when I return home next week main objective will be a 'real job' search and my concentration on basic survival.
How will this affect our Union? Well, I will not be able to contribute nearly as much time to our nation. The first order of business will have to be business and my personal participation with members will be severely limited.
For the time being the Gate will be cut back to every other week. The time and preparation of each is an awesome responsibility for one person so any wishing to see a faster return of the weekly rag feel free to contribute some articles!
From the 'Is that still there? Department' the Tavern Club has finally surpassed 100 members! Truly amazing in that all the activity has now moved to the Group but folks are still coming!
In accordance with our new association with the World Security Organization I have created the New World Warriors group. While I'll make no secret of the fact it is designed for those interested in possible IRL military service its for anyone who would like to try out the many realistic combat multiplayer on-line sims.
While I have enough tactical training to get folks started we will be severely limited in our ability to train pilots and more advanced special operations techniques. Any veterans you know who may be interested in helping out please have them contact me!
As such, NovaLogic Games strikes again! While I have not found it at any of our sponsors our game of the week (half month?) is Delta Force. Though it was not promoted as an online multiplayer it is a great one, for up to sixteen players, and one you might find at your local Wal-Mart (as I did!) or other discount store for $10!
After trying them both single player I strongly recommend taking on DF before DF2. One reason is the easier, less developed interface that will transition smoothly from one to the next. Another is the missions are considerably easier and won't have our players or trainers constantly running for cover while lessons are being given!

So how does the tale end? Well, you may read Dragons at Dawn in the Library but that is just the end of the first of three tales. In fact, the story even continues today in the Nation of Union as we face new challenges, IC and IRL.
A simple fact of life is there are always difficulties we must face. Its not so much a matter of their existence as how we approach them. Have faith in your dreams, goals and aspirations. Have the courage to see life's shortcomings as opportunities to be your best. And, if nothing else helps, remember this much:
At least we're not living in Afganistan.

Lord/Lady of Law (LL): Union Council post in desperate need of filling!
This position currently requires less than three hours work per week and
entails:
Emperor/Empress of EverEve (LtL): High Council position available to members interested in administrating Union activities
in The Empires of EverEve and overseeing the recruitment and training of incoming members there. Other requirements include:
* Webdesign and hosting skills
Warlord/Lord of Alhanzar: Command Council position available to Knights or members interested in building and administrating the Union Keep
of the Mystic Realms of Alhanzar and overseeing the recruitment and training of incoming members there. Other requirements include:
* A minimum level one membership to Alhanzar
Warlord/Lord of Diablo: Command Council position available to Knights or members interested in administrating Union activities
in Diablo and overseeing the recruitment and training of incoming members there. Other requirements include:
* Ownership of the original Diablo CD. (May be provided to the right candidate.)
High Priest/Priestess: This Post requires assisting Monty in the rebuilding
of the Palace Temple and overseeing the recruitment and training of incoming
priests. Some ceremonial duties may include conducting marriages and
christenings. Applicant should have a working knowledge of Union history and culture, be of sound moral character and tolerant of the beliefs of others.

Mage Mayhem's Robes Truly magical! These appear as normal robes with a
