The Book of Sara

For All Her Children

Now hear the tale of Sara, a real little girl, her mother's little angel her father's little pearl. She lived a little life in a little town and she loved to sit thinking in her little gown, just her with her little dreams all alone by a little lake not far from her little home. She lived not so long ago and not so far away and we know she lives on looking over little children to this very day.

Sara went to the little temple in her little town but what she saw there scared her, what was done made her frown. Their god of good had rule after rule, some seemed just, some just seemed cruel. He asked so much but gave back so little; their time, their gold, even food from their kettle.

So poor little Sara went hungry alot sitting by her little lake, lost in her thought. "What does this god want from us," alone she would cry, "always tooth for a tooth and eye for an eye? And what good brings it him? Oh it'd be so nice to have for dinner that turkey we gave as sacrifice!"

Thus little Sara grew in body and mind but she stayed just and pure as any could e'er hope find. Ammends with her god weren't easy but still she suffered the hardships and bent to his will.

Now Sara had a little friend though much older than she, a wood elf still a young girl at one hundred and three. Michellana stayed hidden and watched her friend grow and looked over Sara, though she'd never know a little wood elf had claimed her as her little friend and so she would be till both's time here would end.

At last Sara's god saw the beauty of his creation and gave her grand powers in his awesome elation. "Times they may change but ever I'll be a god of great power with worshippers as she!" Michellana looked on, still hiding, and knew her friend gained great strength with each inch she grew.

Now Miche' was a Magi and a friend to the woods and saw in young Sara the coming of good which her people never had known e'er before but first a great evil would come and, with it, great war. Miche' still hiding knew their time was nigh but the pains they would suffer would carry them on high.

Suddenly one lovely day and with nearly no warning Sara married a bard and planned to leave the next morning. Her friends were astounded and many exclaimed, "That Darthon is no good, he'll ruin your name!" Still she heard her calling and her love of the man.
"I see our god's omens get out while you can!" she warned her friends but for them t'was too late...her town was ravaged hours after she last passed it's gate.

Sara and Miche's past hardships had strengthened them well as the war which ignited was worse than we'll tell. Still Miche' with magic and Sara with good fought, healed, cast spells and did all that they could. Sara doubted her god's wisdom and e'en at his call, said "Only by just cause...but when they fall, THEY WILL FALL!"

Then evil dragons soon filled the skies, thought tales just for children or the stuff of fools' lies. Still from a great tower Mich' sent out a cry and good wyrms soon were helping and chose riders to fly. Ametrius was oldest of the good gold ones' nest and took Sara as rider, the girl he knew best.

The war raged on and might still were it not for one final battle these maids bravely fought. Sara looked in the abyss where Drothkar awaited, "Come to me girl, as ye were so fated." It was not for herself but all of us Sara cried. This amazed evil Drothkar and, with that, they both died.

As Miche' and the mage god both met a like end both maids' souls soared together, forever as friends. Michellana to the throne, the mage goddess today and Sara, dear Sara...no it won't end this way...

For all other gods faced the then god of good and every then told him to do as he should. And so even he saw the great pain he had caused: by right, by might, by orders and laws. "Sara, I'm too weary, not worthy to be sitting on this throne...I pass it to thee!"

So our little Sara has found a new larger home and there watches ye always...ye be ne'er alone.
