The Book of Walther

I Worlds at War

1. The greatest endeavor a man can pursue is the art of war. It is through war that worlds are protected, defended and created. A being, society or world not adept at this art is at the mercy of others who are and will be set upon by enemies who will destroy them. War is life and the lack of wisdom in such is certain death.

2. It is through Carendon, the Great God of Neutrality that War be created to acertain the balance between all deities and so such may battle each other to maintain this balance. Carendon then beget Walther to oversee War among all deities... He has knowledge of all weapons meek and mighty, He has wisdom of the entirety of all beings strategy and tactics, He oversees the makers of war for all the worlds.

3. This book is so written by Exellion, being the first of a great lineage of the Highpriests of Walther. Herein lies the tale of my God, His power and might and how I have through Him defeated every foe that has challenged me or that I have challenged. All praise Walther for His Power and Wonder, so the balance may be maintained, victory may be gained and the heavens may be reigned by the balance of powers forever and ever, so be it!

II The First of Times

1. At the first of times Carendon created air and water to disperse the natures of His Brethren's elements of earth and fire, ruled by Plateus and Drothkar. He then beget Walther so that all deities would know the art of war and hence have the ability to attack and defend one to the other. They fought valiantly one another. Calethkor was then peopled by fell dragons, chromatic and metallic by his brothers and gem of his design. These great beasts were the first to defend the virgin lands claimed by their Fathers. This is known by the learned as the Age of Awakening.

III The Dawn of All

1. Walther then set about creating the warriors; both men and beast of Calethkor; those good, foul and of His own kind. As this is His calling, His people are of all natures and nothing gives our Master greater pleasure than to see his servants practice His Arts on the fields of battle, whether it be side by side or face to face. It is at this time I came into being as the Maker's first Highpriest of the race that came to be known as sylvan elves. This was to become called the Age of Dawning.

IV The Time of the Master

1. It was the 1500th year of my birth when the Great One came into His Own and a mighty war ravishes all the lands. Herein lies the valiant tales of His followers, fair and fell, who even now continue to battle so that One of the Three may be Master of All. Walther is at His highest stature among all Gods and beings for it is through Him that the arts of war are learned and practiced. Surely all who would follow him now are to be set as greatest among their kinds. While none of our Master's fold would agree to such a title, this time has become known as the Age of the Lost.

Lord Montahon's notes: These are the only surviving entries made to the Book of Walther by Excellion himself. While history suggests there were many more we are lucky that even this brief passage has survived from the Age of the Lost, if indeed these are authentic documents.

It is largely agreed by most sources Excellion himself died valiantly in battle, as he and his god would have it, shortly after his final additions to these writings.
