I hatched the idea while we were viewing a PBS broadcast about the Philippine Islands. According to the documentary clip, when the Filipino people are having a special, celebratory meal or feast, they dispense with the usage of utensils and eat with their fingers. I hasten to tell you that we still eat Thanksgiving dinner using knives, forks, spoons, and napkins. But on Filipino Night, dinner is served sans silverware, and the entire family has a rousing good time with their food.
You ask, "But what about the dog?" Or have you already guessed? Yes, on Dog Night (no, nothing on PBS about this--'twas my own brainchild), we cannot even use our paws....unless they're required in fistlike fashion to secure food to the plate while our teeth rip and tear at it. And drinks are served in bowls out of which we *lap-lap-lap*. This meal requires women and girls to tightly braid or otherwise secure their fur, lest we be sent to the groomer's immediately following the meal. Enjoy!
