After we had prayed over our food and begun eating, I suggested that each family member name one thing they particularly like about the person sitting directly across the table from them.  I, seated opposite Maverick, paved the way by heaping accolades upon my little 3-year-old.  My husband's turn was next, and our daughter followed him.  I then called on Maverick, "Maverick, can you name one thing about Mama that you like?"

He raised his hooded eyes and with a look on his face and tone in his voice which aptly conveyed his disdain for this little mealtime exchange, he slowly, quietly, and deliberately replied,

I don't wanna talk about it.
Juth leave me alone.
Let me eat my dinnah.
