Eighteen year old Lacey and four year old Maverick were both upstairs in the library when big sister told Maverick she was going downstairs.   Maverick asked her not to, because he wanted to stay in the library and play a computer game.  She replied, "You can stay here."

Maverick stated, "I don't want to be alone."

Lacey assured him, "You won't be alone--God's here."

Maverick's little body jolted, and his head whipped side-to-side as he demanded, "Where!?!"

Lacey explained to him then that God is everywhere.  Yes, he'd been told before, but he obviously hadn't fully processed the information.  Both Lacey and Maverick came downstairs.

Maverick found me at the kitchen sink and said, "C'mere.  I wanna tell you a theekwet (secret)."

I leaned down to place my ear at his level, and he whispered with a slight tone of nervous incredulity, "Lathey thaid God'th in the libwawy."

Having been forewarned of their exchange, I said, "Well, you know, that's true.  God is everywhere--He's even in the kitchen with us now, but we can't see Him.  He loves us and is watching over us all the time."  Maverick seemed to accept my explanation and I returned to my chores at the sink.

The following morning Maverick wanted his shoes, and he asked his eight year old brother, Dylan, to go upstairs and get them for him.  In normal sibling fashion, Dylan replied, "I'm not gonna go get 'em.  You go get 'em!"

Maverick pleaded, "I can't!  God'th up there!"
