Here's a slightly closer look at downtown Vancouver. You may have noticed that there are mountains very near to the city. It's quite a blessing in Vancouver. Not only do we have water, but we also have mountains. So, in the spring, when there is still snow on the mountains, you can go skiing in the morning and then sailing in the afternoon. I've never done it, but I always it was neat that one could do that in this city.
One of the major industries in Vancouver is tourism. It is the second largest industry in the province, next to forestry. Every summer, cruise ships visit Vancouver. Most of these are here to pick up passengers and take them up to Alaska. I've actually been on a beach once in West Vancouver and watched two cruise ships leave the harbour. It's a very interesting sight to see.
