Lion Dancer in Chinatown Parade

Vancouver is full of a variety of cultures. Chinese is one of them. Here is a Chinese Lion Dancer. Most likely, it is Chinese New Year and this is a part of the New Year parade.

Honestly, Chinatown is not my favourite place to be. It's old and there's a lot of crime near the area. It can be a scary place to be at night. People who are used to the area do not agree, but I don't go there very often.

Another distinctly noticeable group are the East Indians. There's a variety of people from India. Some are Hindus, some are Sikhs. They add a lot of colour to the street. Their clothing is quite bright and beautiful.

One can often smell the fragrant scent of curry in the air near their shops. It is a very distinct scent. East Indians celebrate their own holidays just as they do in India. I hear they also have an very good candy shop in town. =)
