March of 2009 marked the 40th anniversary of The Love Bug's
release in theaters, and LoveBugFans.com members from around the world
knew that it was an occasion to celebrate! March 13-15, 2009 saw
over a dozen Herbies, both original Disney cars and fan-made replicas,
gather at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Joining them were
special guests Chuck Smith who helped build the Volkswagens used in The
Love Bug as well as Joaquin Garay III, the actor that portrayed Paco
in Herbie Goes Bananas. A VIP dinner at Planet
Hollywood, a behind the scenes tour of the Hollywood Studio's Lights,
Motors, Action! stunt show, and an appearance at the Lakeland
Volkswagen Classic car show were all highlights of the weekend. An
emergency clutch repair was also done on the spot. In all, it was
