Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers belongs to the young brood of local chief executives. His previous record shows a length of service as assistant to DILG Secretary Robert Barbers, then as assistant of the latter in his capacity as Congressional Representative. From July 1997 to November 2000, the present governor was the Director of the Department of Tourism for the National Capital Region.
He attended the Riverside Community College in the U.S. where he completed an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies course, and proceeded to the California State University in San Bernardino to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science.
To his present seat at the capitol, Governor Barbers takes with him a portfolio of knowledge and expertise in the fields of crisis management, security, labor conflict settlement, and institutional linkages. These qualities are attributed to his experiential exposures, conferences and trainings here and abroad, including the APEC Ministerial Meeting on Women, the ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting, Financing for LGUs, and Domestic Marketing.
