Compare closely the two photos below. On the left is the hovel in downtown Toronto we moved out of on 21 Nov 2002. Only the right half of it belonged to us. Yes, I hadn't bothered to rake the leaves for a while - I was a little busy with packing up all of our worldly possessions. Three bedrooms, one bathroom and a basement classified as a cellar (a bit more than five feet tall and unfinishable). 22 foot wide lot and parking suitable for 1.5 cars, small ones that is. On the right, the lovely house nearing the edge of Napanee we moved into on 16 Dec 2002. All ours. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a fully finished basement. 66 foot wide lot, double garage and a driveway that will comfortably fit six vehicles. Gorgeous veranda on the back, neighbours further away than the other side of the wall. All this for a touch more than half the price of the Toronto hovel. Quite a big change. |
