A belated congratulations to my cousin Dave, his wife Tanya, and their daughter Sarah who welcomed the latest addition to their family, Logan Henry, into the world on the 10th of August this year. Belated because Dave just got around to telling me about it this week. And the extended family grows by one.
Thought I'd share an almost un-remarked milestone in my life. On 06 May 2003, Lesli and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. Impressive in the age of instant divorce, I think, when the mythical average marriage is something less than half of that. (Supposedly the divorce rate is dropping and the length is going up, but I suspect that these are because fewer people are getting married in the first place.) More impressive is that, on 14 Dec 2003, we'll remember a cold night thirteen years gone when we first met in Kingston. Warms my heart a little just to think of it.
Below is a picture from our wedding day, my parents next to me, hers next to her. It's funny how much more hair I had eight years ago. I knew that it was starting to recede even then, but I'm quite certain that the rate of recession has increased dramatically since we started having children.
