Races
It seems to be part of human nature to continually test oneself. As a runner, there are plenty of ways to do this - just one more kilometre, I can make it up this hill, a little faster, and on and on. But races seem to be a popular route. An official time on a measured distance, plus a t-shirt and maybe a medallion and/or certificate to commemorate the occasion. And it seems to be that only in a race is anyone willing to empty the tank to go for the best time that they can. Most of us are really just competing with ourselves, but having people around us doing their best seems to provide a bit more incentive to push just that little bit harder.
This page and its daughters will chronicle my forays into the world of racing at lengths shorter than Marathon distance. Marathons will have their own set of pages. If I'm ever crazy enough to try an Ultra, then that will be a different set again. However, I'm not really looking past the 42.2 km mark at this point.
