Dr. Who

It's probably not really fair of me to review Dr. Who in any way, as I've mostly only watched the Tom Baker years. I have occasionally run across an interesting story arc featuring another of the Doctors, but Tom holds my interest the best and is my favourite.

I do have a few comments to make.

Yes, the special effects were generally on the bad side. Yes, the costumes were recycled in bits and pieces throughout. Yes, the idea of a time traveling phone booth is just a teensy bit off the wall. Yes, the sets were recycled, too.

But excellent writing, which this show had in abundance, can make up for all of these things and more. Add to that the generally above average quality of the actors and you've got a show that has a long run potential. In this case, a couple of decades plus a couple of TV movies.

All hail the good Doctor. I'm fairly certain that he kept British television SF alive for quite a long time, almost single handedly.
