Once again in 2004 the summer get-together took place in Tennessee. More and more shipmates and their wives and families are showing up each year and that's great. These summer gatherings are open to all including sons, daughters and their families.
This year marked the first organized summer gathering and a lot of it centered around food. If anyone left Pigeon Forge hungry, it was their own fault. We had four great meals and three excellent shows in three days. On top of all the organized meals a small group of us went to the Old Mill Restaurant on Saturday morning for breakfast. If you ever find yourself in Pigeon Forge, do yourself a favor and have breakfast there. Excellent food and service and very reasonable.
The week-end kicked off on Thursday with a supper at the Up The Creek Restaurant followed by a show at the Louise Mandrell theatre. Friday consisted of lunch at the Applewood Restaurant, supper at the Alabama Grille and a show at the Country Tonight theatre. We topped the day off with an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen provided by Marge Robinson.
Saturday was mostly a free day to shop or go to the mountains. Supper and entertainment Saturday was at the Black Bear Jamboree, a dinner theatre with a dynamic show. Each night we returned to the motel hospitality room for entertainment provided by Leroy Mason, Ron LaFontaine and Jerry and Vickie Flynn. Come join us next year in Branson, MO.
