LST 1159 - Tom Green County First Reunion

Early Arrival Fun

We were not too anxious about our first reunion. Shipmates started arriving on Monday even though the first planned event was on Friday. By Thursday evening the ladies were ready for some action. By the magic the ladies possess it was determined that while in San Angelo it would be wrong to miss out on some of the local eateries. Again by the mysterious magic of the ladies they knew where a nearby restaurant was located.

Three different groups went to three different places. The people with cars all took full loads and transported the crew to the selected restaurant. The group I was in went to a Mexican place and until I get some more information and photos of the other places visited all that can be shown is the gang at this place.

The crew arrived in car loads lots and for the first two car loads the head waiter arranged two tables next to each other allow all to be seated together. When the next bunch arrived the head waiter seemed to freeze. Well the 'can do' attitude of the crew asserted itself and empty tables and chairs from all over the dining room were arranged in a straight line.

The waitress was sharp. She saw what was happening and arranged place settings as fast as the crew moved tables into place. When all the arranging was completed we had one long table. It loked like this.

Even with all the moving of tables and chairs there was not enough room for everyone.
Ashley getting caught up in all the Navy talk with lots of help from Woody
Some serious conversation, like how much the Social Security payment will increase next year, also took place.
Some light hearted comments, which brought smiles and laughter, also took place
Attentions were sometimes divided
Sometimes they were not.
Serious or lighthearted conversations, divided or focused attenion did not make any difference. The smiles tell the story.
