We have finalized the figures for the reunion. Here is the general information, followed at the end how we determined the registration cost per person, which will be $90.00 per person. We feel this increase of $14.00 per person over the 2006 reunion, is still excellent for Vegas and what we are getting.
When we hosted the reunion in 2005 & 2006, not included in the registration fee was the cost for door prizes and centerpieces. This was taken out of money that I was given to start the reunion. The total figure this year represents all costs at this time.
Also as I mentioned previously, food prices and costs for the Orleans Hotel have gone up considerably since we had our 2006 reunion. We are very fortunate that the Sales and Banquet Department has given us very special attention once again with the rates given to us in all areas. We figured they saved us approximately $1,000.00 with these cuts and that saved us $20.00 per person. As I mentioned, we feel the final figure of $90.00 per person is fantastic!!
I am happy to report that I was able to get us rooms for $60.00 per night, and $160.00 for those shipmates wanting to check in on Saturday, October 4, 2008. The rate of $60.00 per night is the same as we paid in 2006. This rate is even cheaper than the current Casino Rate. This is wonderful. Also more good news is the rate for the hospitality suite. At first Ms. Burris quoted us $150.00 per night. I told her in 2006, the Saturday night rate was $120.00 and Sun-Wednesday, the rate was $60.00. She said this was impossible to give us these rates again. After talking with her and explaining again that this is our 3rd reunion and our shipmates just loves the Orleans and staff. Well, we did it. I got the hospitality suite for the same price as our regular room rate, $60.00 Sun-Wednesday, and Saturday night is $160.00 (these figures do not includes taxes). This is unheard of.
However, I did have to guarantee that we would have minimum of 50 people for the Banquet Dinner. Also, if we fall behind the 50 people, there is a $350.00 separate rental fee for the shipmates’ meeting and the banquet dinner. I know we will have no problem with the 50. I am so happy with these rates!! Again Leon and I will check in one day earlier (Saturday) to get everything ready for check in on Sunday and will have the hospitality room ready to open @10am. The Orleans Hotel is holding a block of rooms single or double occupancy @$60.00 per night plus Clark County room tax, currently at nine percent (9%) There is an additional $15.00 room charge per guest for the third guest and fourth guest in the same room. Saturday check in, if you are interested, is $160.00.
Requests for specific room type, location or smoking preference will be accommodated to the best of the hotel’s ability. Also something new is a mandatory $5.00 resort fee per room per day. This fee will include access to the Fitness Center, in-room coffee, unlimited local & 800 calls as well as free High Speed Internet Access in their Business Center.
Shipmates can book immediately by calling 800-675-3267 when the Orleans’ Room Reservation Department is open (Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 11:00pm – Pacific Time/Saturday & Sunday between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm – Pacific Time. SHIPMATES’ MUST IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS ATTENDEES OF THE LST 1159 REUNION or Group Code 8LSTC10 in order to obtain a room reservation under the above mentioned block. Without this identification, they will not be quoted the special group rate and may be told that the hotel is sold out. As an alternative to calling the hotel directly, shipmates can also book online by visiting www.orleanscasino.com clicking on “Book a Room” and entering our group code 8LSTC10, in the Group Code field.
At the time the reservation is made, each shipmate will be asked to provide a major credit card or send a deposit for their first night’s room and tax. If a credit card is utilized, it will automatically be charged first night’s room and tax. Also all shipmates will be required to present a credit card upon check-in. The credit card provided must be able to accept an authorization in the amount of $100.00 per stay for incidental charges. The cut-off date for our room block is 9/2/08. Any reservations received after this date will be accepted on a “space available” basis. To insure space availability, please call in a timely manner.
Cancellations on individual room reservations will be accepted up to 72 hours prior to check in time of 4pm on the scheduled date of arrival with no penalty fee. However, any individual who cancels their reservation after this cutoff will be responsible for one night’s room and room tax.

We are honored and privileged this year to have our dear friend, Davis Leonard, who will speak to us on his missions during WWII. Davis besides being a special WWII veteran is a singer and appeared in many broadway musicals.
