A. DAILY GRADE: DAILY WORK-50%
The student is ready to play, participate in class activities, and brings instrument and music folder everyday. The student performs assigned pieces for the day at an acceptable level, (including scales and warmups), strives to improve on identified weak areas and maintains good posture and instrument position.
Each student will receive 20 points per day. Points will
be deducted from your daily grade for the following reasons:
-20 for failing to participate in class activities (performance)
-10 for not playing when required or for playing out of turn.
-20 Inability to perform assigned piece, scales or warmups for the day.
-15 Inability to perform assigned excerpts from the Orchestra method Book
B. TEST GRADE (Performance, Written, Project, Homework)-50%
A numerical score will be given for each test or project and homework.
a) The student performs assignment of the week.
b) Curricular Performances or Concerts.
c) Written Test-Music Theory, Musical Styles, Team Skills and
Concert Etiquette.
d) Sectional Rehearsals count as a Performance Grade.
Make-up Work Policy: Due to abscences (excused only), makeup work
for written or playing tests is available upon the student request, with a
written excuse from the parent or guardian.
C. SIX WEEKS GRADE: AVERAGE OF DAILY AND TEST/PROJECTS GRADES
D. SEMESTER AVERAGE: AVERAGE OF BOTH SEMESTERS WEIGHTED EQUALLY
2. EXTRA CREDIT: ALLOWED FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS
