Attendance at all rehearsals and public performances of the orchestra is vitally important. When a studentd is admitted to membership in the orchestra, the student must agree to be present at all times, unless excused by director in advance. The director may excuse a student from rehearsals or performances under extenuating circumstances which in opinion of the director and principal, justified and excused abscence. Unexcused absences may cause a student to be excluded from future performances.
Every member is required to attend all performances. Making a request to be excused does not automatically excuse the student. Each request will be consider separately and on its own merit. Such decisions will not set a precedent and will not bind future decisions.
Orchestra organizations are a source of great pride to our school. Because the high level of visibility, members of the orchestra most demonstrate good conduct. You represent yourself, your family, your school and your entire community each time you perform. One student who is absent or performing poorly can discredit to the entire organization and make all the work and effort of every member of the group meaningless. Team work is very important for experiencing successful performances and achieving high score in contests.
The following standards of behavior must be followed for all orchestra performances and rehearsals:
1. Good conduct is expected at all times. The orchestra is a team and needs the cooperation and dependability of each of its members. General behavior guidelines for concerts, performances and rehearsals are the following: Be on time with necessary materials, behave in a calm and orderly manner, no talking during rehearsals or performances, your eyes and mind must be with the director at all times.
2. Each orchestra member is required to follow Baker's Dress Code for extracurricular activities, or the Orchestra Uniform for Concerts, Festivals and Contest.
