From the Journal of Lt Orion, formerly Battlestar Atlantia.

Entry 1

"Aramathea, by the lords of Kobol I wish you were here. No I take that back. I am glad you weren't. What we just went through is the closest thing I can think of to purgatory. Be glad my wife that you weren't there. I just wish you were alive, I can't help but think that since I didn't see the Pegasus destroyed that somehow you might still live. Then I remember what we just went through. It chills me to the bone, Ara.

I spoke to Commander Adama today, he recommended I keep a journal to keep my thoughts straight. So here I am. I guess I should begin at the beginning. Well here goes. Ever since the Cylons began asking for a "peace" conference I had a bad feeling. The closer it got to the time the worse the feeling got. When it came time to meet for the Armistice, I was on the Flight deck. I hadn't had any sleep at all, for two days because of it. The feeling I mean. Any way, Jenna my flight tech was there working on my Viper, and I guess she was keeping an eye on me. You can never tell with her.

I was looking out a port when a glint from the Galactica caught my eye. I had seen the glint before it was the catapult bays opening the launch tubes. I called Jenna over to me, and asked her what she saw when she looked at the Galactica, she couldn't see anything. I told her what I saw, and she laughed at me. God I wish she was right......"

Chapter 1: Ambush at Cimtar.

"Hey Jenna come here," called out Lt Orion. Jenna looked up from where she was working on his Viper and shook her head. "What is it, Orion? can't you see I am doing something?" "Jenna just get over here!" Jenna jumped down off the Starhound's wing and walked over to Orion, "Well what is it?" Orion was staring out the forcefield covering the landing bay opening. Jenna looked at where he was watching, "You brought me over here to look at the Galactica," she said a frown on here face. "No, look at her Catapult bays. What do you see?" Jenna looked out over the distance, "Can't see a thing actually." Orion looked at her, "Got a hand scanner?" Jenna laughed "Yea its right here with my million Cubits." "I am serious Jenna, something isn't right here." Jenna looked Orion over, she couldn't help but like him married or not. She just wished he would let go of his wife who died on board the Pegasus. "Okay Orion, lets try something." Turning she walked back to the Viper, climbed up and sat down in the cockpit.

Once seated she removed a panel directly above the sensor panel and began reprogramming a switch that Orion noticed had just been installed. "What are you doing Jenna?" "Don't worry bout it flyboy. Almost got it," the look on her face showed her intense concentration. "There," she said with satisfaction. "What's going on there Orion?" Orion lifted his head to look at the newcomer, upon seeing who it was he smiled. "Captain, come here. Did you know the Galatica has her Cat bays open?" "Why would she have her bays open?" Jenna flipped the switch and the Sensor panel came alive, with a feedback directly from the Atlantia bridge. What she saw made her gasp. "Orion" she grabbed the Lt by his jacket and pointed to the sensor screen. Which was covered with the sign of unidentified craft, thousands of them, approaching the fleet.

"Rainer!" shouted Orion, Captain Rainer jumped up on the platform that the techs used to assist the Pilots and stared at the sensor panel. "What the hell..," Rainer then jumped down and ran to a communacitions panel. "Captain Rainer to Core Command." After a moment "Core Command go ahead Captain." "Whats going on up there." "We are being approached by a Cylon Welcoming commitee Captain. Nothing to worry about." Rainer's only comment was mumbled under his breath. As he ran back over to Orion's Viper. Whats going on. Orion moved to the side. Allowing him a view of the screen, as they watchedthey noticed a single Viper on screen trying to outrun the on coming "welcoming commitee" Rainer reached down and activated the com panel in the Viper. They could here Core Command, on the other end. As they watched they saw the Viper disappear on screen. On the intercom, they heard President Adar ask someone, "What was that?" and a response, "That was my son, Mr. President."

"Jenna, can you get the Ground tech's here now," asked Rainer. "Just try and stop me," was all he heard as she jumped down from the other side of the Viper. Orion took her place and grabbed his helmet off the back of his seat. "Orion, I'm going to get the Squadron." Meet you out there Captain. Orion activated his flight systems, and then called for clearance from Core Command. "Negative Red 7, you ARE NOT CLEARED TO LAUNCH." "FELGARCARB!" he slammed his hand against the control panel cutting his knuckles. "Core Command you either clear me or I am blasting the doors down from the inside!" "Negative Red 7. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LAUNCH." Just then Jenna popped her head into Orion's view. "Jenna can you override Flight Controll?" She smiled, "Can a daggit hunt?" She jumped down, and ran over to a controll panel, Orion glanced over to his left and smiled as he saw the other pilots running for there Vipers. "Orion, Cat bays for Red Squadron are open. Launch controll to you," Jenna's voice cut through the silence of the cockpit. A silence that was replaced with a roar, as he hit the turbos, and the catapult system Launched him into space.
