Ricky Lee, Richard, Jonathan and Gary Jackson of Scarlet Road

Scarlet Road is the Jackson's band. No, we are not talking about those Jacksons, but rather Jonathan & Richard Jackson's. The band was named after one of Jonathan's Dad's old bands. Jonathan writes the lyrics, sings and plays the guitar, while Richard plays the drums, and their dad plays the Guitar too. While most of their music is original material, they also perform a couple of U2 covers. They recently debuted in 1997 at the L.A. club The Roxy.

The boys in the band.
The following is from the Scarlet Road page at Soundtracks Studios

Two generations of brothers influenced by four decades of rock!

Scarlet Road was created out of the desire of Jonathan Jackson to express himself through music. He coaxed his brother Richard into joining him and forming their first band.
Jonathan wrote the words and music and arranged the songs with Richard's help. The first album Jonathan made was called Homemade #1. This Album was recorded in their basement where their dad, Ricky Lee, had an eight track recording studio. Jonathan played guitar and sang, Richard played the drums and their dad played bass guitar. Their uncle, Gary, played lead on one of the tunes. They then took the basic tracks to Burke Harris at Soundtracks Studio where they sweetened the sound and did the final mix.
Before Scarlet Road happened a second album titled Jonathan Jackson Homemade #2 was also started in the basement on the eight track recording system but then moved to Soundtracks Studio, added more songs, sweetened the sound and did the final mix. Jonathan was joined again by Richard on the drums, his dad Ricky Lee on the bass and vocals for one song. Ronn Chick, their engineer, played guitar on a couple of tunes. These albums were sold through Jonathan's fan club. In August of 1996 they had asked their uncle to join their band. This was made up of Jonathan, Richard, their dad, Ricky Lee, and their uncle, Gary. Jonathan and Richard found out Ricky Lee and Gary had a garage band back in the late 60's titled Scarlet Road and decided to adopt the name for the new band. With Jonathan and Richard's busy schedule on television it took until December 96 before they could get time off to go back into the studio to create their first album as Scarlet Road. With the help of Burke Harris and their engineer, Ronn Chick, they created the CD titled CLASH

While they really enjoy playing on the band, both Jonathan and Richard prefer acting, and take on music just as a hobby. It would still be nice to hear more of them don't you think?
