He had designed the settings and costumes for 99 productions before Robert Randolph was called upon to do his first Broadway show--Gian-Carlo Menotti's "The Saint of Bleecker Street." And "The Desperate Hours" marks the beginning of his second hundred creations. A graduate of Iowa State University, for three years he taught architectural design at his alma mater before he gathered courage enough to face New York. Seven years ago, Mr. Randolph began working in summer stock--his own for the first two years and later in Lakewood, Maine; the arena theatre in Atlantic City and in a straw hat venture in Salt Creek, Chicago. HIs Broadway training was as assistant designer for last season's "Traveling Lady" and this year's "The Honeys." |
