With two of the 1961-62 season's most distinguished productions, "The Caretaker" and the award-winning "A Man For All Seasons" to his credit; with "Mary, Mary" pursuing its irresistible course on Broadway; with two national companies of "Mary, Mary" captivating audiences throughout the United States, Mr. Stevens, co-producer of "Calculated Risk," is now devoting full time to his duties as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the National Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., a post which he was appointed by President Kennedy. In addition to the many productions he has sponsored, more than eighty in all, since his introduciton to Broadway in 1949, the ubiquitous Mr. Stevens participates in the affairs of the American National Theatre and Academy (ANTA), the Phoenix Theatre, the American Shakespeare Festival at Stratford, Connecticut, and the Metropolitan Opera. Audiences, however, know him best through such distinguished prodcutions as "Tea and Sympathy," "Ondine," "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Bus Stop," "The Visit," "West Side Story," "Five Finger Exercies," "The Best Man," "A Far Country" and countless other hits. | |||||
