Luke plopped down in his chair in his office at his club. "Why in the hell did Laura decide to have another big wedding?"he asked himself. Just then the door knocked. "Go away!",he yelled.
"dad?" It was Lucky. He never knocked before. Luke frowned. Maybe he's still a bit brainwashed, he thought. "Come in, son",he answered. Lucky came in and took a seat. "Hi dad."he said. "Can I have a drink?" "Sure."said Luke. He had just gotten some ginger ale and some bottled water in his little fridge by the safe. However, Lucky got up, went to the liquor cabinet, got a shot glass and a bottle of Jack Daniels, and took the shot straight, choking a little afterwards. Luke looked a bit amazed. Something's bothering him, he thought. "Lucky, is some thing wrong? Is it work?" He wondered what Gia had done to his boy to make him this weird. Personally, he didn't like her. He always wondered why Laura always said she was sweet and nice. So is Helena, he thought to himself. "No Dad."Lucky said, sitting back down. "It's something else." He wondered if his dad would believe him. "What is it, Cowboy? You can tell me." Lucky thought a bit, then decided to open up to his hero."OK! It's Maxie she's in love with me." Luke was a loss for words. He didn't expect THAT. Maxie Jones? He wondered what brought this on. "How do you know?"he asked Lucky. "She told me, Dad."Lucky said. "And I can't find her." "Son, maybe you should tell me from the beginning."Luke urged. "OK, Dad. When I was at the studio, she snuck into my room and lit candles everywhere. When I came home, there she was in a very revealing dress standing there. Dad I was so surprised, but I won't lie to you, she looked so beautiful with the candles there. then she got out her math book and asked me for help with her homework. So I said fine. We did a few problems and then I looked over at her to find her hand went onto mine. That was when I thought we should talk. So I said that I only thought of her as a little sister. She said she wasn't a kid anymore and then she KISSED me. I was stunned. So then I pushed her away and I said that I will always see her as a kid I used to babysit. Then she got all upset and ran off in hysterics. I have looked everywhere for her Dad, but I can't find her. What am I going to do, dad?"he asked. Luke was amazed. Kid's got guts, he thought. "well, son, I think I kind of saw this coming."he said. Lucky looked at him, a bit confused. "How?",he inquired. "Well", Luke began,"remember how she always talks to you, always making excuses to go to Kelly's and never said a bad thing about you after you came back home?" Lucky nodded. "Well",Luke continued,"people knew she was always fond of you. Perhaps it was only a matter of time." Lucky understood. After all, she said she wanted to marry him when she was only 5. Still he had hurt someone deeply and perhaps permanently. If anyone else had hurt her the way I did tonight, he thought, I would hunt them down and make them beg for their own lives. "But Dad, I still can't find her." "Maybe she went home. Did you try there?"he asked. "No."Lucky said. "I'll try, hold on." Luke went for his cell phone and called up Felicia. "Hey, blondie, it's Luke. Is Maxie there? She is? No Nothing's wrong. Thanks, no I don't need to talk to her. Bye. She's safe and sound. Felicia did say she came home upset, though."Luke said hanging up the phone. "What do I do now dad?"Lucky asked. Luke took a moment to think, finishing his cigar while doing so. "Well",he said snubbing it out on his ashtray."I say give it a day. Lucky, you look exhausted. Get a good night's sleep and tomorrow morning when you see her tell her how you feel. At least you know that she is safe at home. Right?""Yeah, I guess you're right, dad."Lucky said. "How did this happen though? I never saw it coming." Luke smiled."You have the Spencer charm in you, son. Women can't resist it at all." Lucky laughed a little. "But I just don't want to hurt her." "I know, son. How old is she anyway?16?" Lucky thought for a second."About that. I'm 21. Anyway Dad,"he said getting up from the leather chair,"thank’s a lot. I really needed to talk to somebody about this. I'm glad I picked you." "Don't mention it, cowboy."Luke said. "Glad I can be of help."Suddenly a question popped into his head and he just had to ask it. "Son?"he said. Lucky looked at him. "Yeah, dad?"he asked. "Son, do you think you can ever see past the little girl and see the young woman she is now?" Lucky concentrated on his words then answered. "You know dad, I think so. In fact I think I have. I was so sick with worry and fear that she would get hurt or Heaven forbid, anything else. Maybe I can love her like she loves me too. In fact I think I am in love with Maxie, Dad."he said, eyes sparkling. "What do you think?" "Son, I always thought you 2 would make a great couple."Luke said beaming. "I was hoping it would happen one day." "Really dad?" Lucky asked. "Yup. I know that you will take great care of her, son." Lucky left, knowing he had a lot to tell Maxie the next day. Luke sat back in his chair and lit up a fresh cigar from it's case, knowing that even though he liked Liz, and was disappointed that she and Lucky ended things, Maxie and Lucky had a much more brighter future ahead of them. "That's my boy."he said to himself, watching the smoke drift toward the lights, and beaming with pride.
