Guardian Angel
Maxie was walking home from Club 101 after watching Micheal all evening. She was really tired, but at least she made about a hundred dollars tonight. At least I can get that new shirt I wanted, she thought to herself. Just then she heard footsteps that were not her own. She sped up her pace, getting a bit worried. Just then, her breath stopped when she was grabbed by an unknown person who then grabbed her purse. "Hey,let go of my-"she screamed,,just before the person cut her off with a sharp knock to the face that knocked her to the ground.
She hit the ground with a force that knocked the breath out of her body. "This will teach you to fight me for your bag,you little bitch."he hissed out to her. Just then,he had a switchblade in his hand, that gleamed in the weak lamplight. All of a sudden, she heard him yell a curse right before she saw him hit the ground by somebody who she saw give him a roundhouse martial arts kick. As she struggled to get up,she saw the face of Lucky Spencer just a few inces from hers,a mixture of concern and worry showing in his crystal blue eyes. "Are you okay?",he asked anxiously. He helped her up,wincing as she saw the bruise and a trickle of blood on her left cheek. Just then she grabbed him into a huge hug that caught him a bit off guard, but then returned it with sincerity. "I'll take you home.",he said. "Thank you.",she said through tears. "Really,it's no problem,Max.",he told her.
They reached her house in about two minutes. He helped her out of his car and walked her to her door. After they went inside they went to the kitchen, where Lucky made her an icepack. "Where's your mom?",he asked her. "Texas."she replied. "She and Georgie went to visit Grandma and I didn't want to go,so she said I can stay at home if I wanted." "All alone?",Lucky asked her. "Yeah, but Mac comes to check on me."she replied, through a new set of tears. Lucky helped her sit down at the kitchen table. "Maxie? Where does your mom keep the first aid kit?" "In there,"Maxie said, pointing to a drawer next to the stove. "I should have called a cab."she said in misery. "Hey,you don't live that far from the club, and it was a warm night."Lucky said, handing her his hankerchief. "Lucky?"she suddenly asked. "Yeah.Max?" "Where did you learn that move?"she inquired. Lucky smiled a little, realizing that she didn't know that he was a kickboxer. "Well,I have some knowledge in kickboxing. I've been practicing for 15 years now. Whenever my family moved,my mom would enroll me in different martial arts classes, tae kwan do,hapkido, and such but mainly kickboxing. I tapered off a bit,but Nikolas does it too,so we spar together. He even has some knowledge of weapons,so he's been teaching me a bit. Right now I'm doing sticks. Wanna come to the gym some time to watch us? Gia and Liz do or did."he said wincing inwardly at the mention of Liz's name. The breakup was mutual,he remembered, but it still hurt that she flew off to Rome to go to art school there. He still missed her alot. Just then,he was snapped out of his daze when he felt Maxie put her hand on his. "I would love to.",she said softly. After,he helped her with the bandage and she changed into some sweats,Lucky looked at his watch. "Well,"he said, getting up from the couch,"I have to get going." "Don't go,Lucky."Maxie said urgently. "Don't worry,Maxie, you'll be just fine."Lucky told her gently. "You know how to use the alarm system, right?"he asked. She nodded. "Mom showed me the codes right before she left." "Good, you also have my number, right?" She nodded. "Ok,then you just take care and put some more ice on it tomorrow,ok?" Again, she nodded. Just then,an idea popped into his head. "Maxie?"he said. "Yes,what is it?"she asked. "Me and Nikolas are doing to spar tomorrow and Gia is coming to watch us. Want to make it an even number?" Maxie lit up right away. "Sure!"she said excitedly. "What time?" "Pich you up at one on the dot,ok?",he said. "Ok" Lucky smiled at her, then turned when he heard Maxie come up behind him. Just then she kissed him on the cheek.
"What was that for?"he asked, while blushing a little. She looked at him shyly. "For being my guardian angel."she said, gratitude and something else he couldn't place evident in her voice. Lucky smiled, wondering what he had done so good in his life to have such a wonderful friend in his life. "I'll see you at one,Maxie. Wait outside for me,ok?" "Sure, drive carefully."Maxie said to him from her door. "I will. Bye Maxie." "Bye Lucky."
