Remy LeBeau quietly sat by himself in a small garden of the X-Treme
X-
Men's new base, in his home town of New Orleans. He could hear the
talking of his peers from not to far away, hearing them laugh and kid
around about things. He could watch as Jean used her mutant powers
of
telekinetics to cut a cake into even squares, and then pass them
about the table, watch Kurt teleport around to each person, telling
jokes and being a fuzzy goof ball as always, he even watched as young
Kitty Pryde phased through Logan to get her piece of cake. Normally,
this wouldn't bother him, but it did, today, for Remy LeBeau had lost
his mutant ability to charge objects with kinetic energy and allow
them to explode on impact. His mutant powers, something he was born
with, was stripped away from his body, after being used as a device
to open up a portal so an alien race could invade Earth, and try and
take over.
While the X-Men were saving the world from these aliens, he
remembered laying on a cold stone, his powers being forced to
incredible amounts, amounts he had no idea he could produce. Fearing
that he would kill innocent people with his own gifts, by allowing
this alien race to come through the portal he had created, Remy had
tried to kill himself, by bringing the building he was in down upon
himself, in a hope that the beam would stop, along with his own
suffering. Rogue had come in and stopped him, knocking away a huge
chunk of rock that would have killed him, saving the X-Men and the
world from that Alien nation. He remembers her feeble attempts to
save his life, trying to pull him free from the platform he was held
down to, only to get trapped in the beam of energy his body had
produced.
Remy remembers Vargas hanging over them, a smirk upon his face as he
thrusted a blade of cold metal through Rogue, and into himself, just
as the X-Men had destroyed that alien space craft that had come
through the portal he had created against his own will. As the young
man remembered that sword going through him, he slowly ran his hand
over a scar on his chest, remembering how he felt to be impaled by
such a cold, hard blade ... how helpless he had felt as he laid under
Rogue, gasping for air at times, and then passing out from the sheer
pain of that blade. Remy vaguely remembers Rogue using all of her
mutant abilities to shift into every person she every absorbed, in
a
feeble attempt to save her own life. He barely remembers her telling
him to stay alive ... for her. If only she could have felt the pain
he was in, the pain of having your mutant powers pushed to their
limits, the horrific feeling of using your powers for days non stop,
and the sheer agony of having a blade shoved through a woman you
supposedly love, into your own heart.
The next memory of those events was confusing, to say the least. Remy
remembered floating, feeling so much at peace and happy for once in
his life. He was dying, and was prepared to leave this world, leaving
as what he had always wanted to become, a hero. He always feared that
he would never get a chance to see Heaven, not after all the crimes
he had committed, and the Morlock Massacre, which he had tried to
stop, but had failed to do so. He still remembered the feeling of
being embraced by the light, the feeling of peace in his soul, and
a
feeling of comfort he had never felt in his life. But this moment was
all stolen from him. Rogue had appeared in the Astral Plain, begging
Remy to come back, and once more, live for her. He had tried to
explain this is how he always wanted it to end ... that he was
finally at peace with himself and his soul. Hell, Remy had even
offered to have Rogue leave this world with him ... to be together
for eternity, but she declined and ripped him away from the peace and
comfort that he had always wanted ... to finally be a hero.
Anger quickly shot up in Remy's mind as he tossed a few cards into a
birdbath in the Garden, not one of them charging up with his mutant
abilities. He then remembered waking up, not in heaven, but his own
Hell. Rogue was holding his hand, welcoming him back to the living,
while Logan looked down at the two of them. He learned his mutant
abilities had been striped from his body, leaving him with a helpless
feeling, one he truly hated. Remy could remember looking up at Logan
with pained eyes, pained red on black eyes as he had awoken, and
seeing the same expression on his face. It looked like Logan had
agreed that Remy should have died if he wanted to, it was his life,
and it should have ended the way he had wanted it to. But he also saw
another look to Logan ... he almost looked thankful in a way that he
was still breathing and alive. It confused Remy, and he slowly turned
his head back to Rogue, who was babying him, and saying how proud she
was that he came back. This angered him all the more as Remy had
tossed the king of hearts into the fountain, only to see a shadowy
figure walk towards him with what looked like a smile upon their face.
"You've been tossin' cards all night?" Came the voice. As soon as the
figure walked more into the lights of the garden and New Orleans
itself, Remy realized who it was. It as Rogue, the woman he loved ...
or does he still love? She was dressed in a pink halter top with
yellow buttons running down the middle of it, resting between her
well rounded cleavage, a pair of tight, blue Capri pants that hugged
every curve of her thighs, well shaped legs, and that round arse of
hers, and a pair of sandals upon her small feet. She looked happy,
whereas Remy himself looked so depressed and hurt. Her short auburn
hair with white streaks blowing in a gentle breeze as she moved
closer to the young Cajun, who simply threw another card into the
fountain, not even moving those red on black eyes up to look at her.
"Not one o' dem charges..." Remy said, replying to her inquiry as to
what he had been doing all night. Remy wore a gray T-shirt that had
appeared to have seen it's day long ago, for it had cuts and rips all
over it, a pair of blue jeans rested against his body, seeming almost
too big for him, and giving off a slightly baggy appearance, and a
pair of old converse sneakers upon slightly large feet, His long,
chestnut hair seemed matted down to his head, as if he had not taken
a shower in days, but Remy's hair had usually acted funny during
warm, humid days in New Orleans, and this was one of them. Those red
on black eyes, the one that had given him the nickname "Le Diable
Blanc" as a child growing up in New Orleans, were dull and lacked
their luster, showing how depressed he had become. The tone of his
voice was very saddened, as another card flew into the water
fountain, again, not charging up at all. "Mah mutant power, she's
gone."
"Mah mutant powers are gone, too, Remy ... but do you know what this
means?" Rogue asked, her southern voice dripping with it's usual
southern charms as she gently reached her ungloved hand out, gently
touching the side of Remy's face, gently stroking it and finally
cupping her fingers under his chin, forcing him to look up at
her. "We can finally live together and be happy, Remy ... ah can
touch you, now. We can live our lives like normal, everyday people.
We don't have to be in fear anymore, sugah ... We are just like..."
"Like what, Rogue? Like everyone else?" he shouted, his anger finally
blowing over as he quickly swatted Rogue's hand away from his face
and slowly rose up to stand, now at his full height of six foot two.
Slowly, Remy had turned his back to her, unable to believe what she
had just said. They were never normal, they were mutants. God made
them as mutants, and they would always be mutants until the day they
died. "We're mutants, Rogue! Don' you get dat'll we always will be!?
Our powers might come back an' den we'll be NORMAL again ... we'll
be
ourselves!"
"Stop talkin' like a fool, Remy! Don't you understand that ah can now
touch you ... be can be together, physically ... as we were mentally
for each other. We can do things now that we could never have done
and at this rate, ah hope our powers don't come back! Ah enjoy living
like this!" Rogue nearly shouted as she quickly walked back over to
face him once more. She could see the anger and pain written all over
his pale face. His chestnut bangs gently resting over those red on
black eyes, almost hiding them completely from her view. "We can
finally be happy, together fer once, Remy..."
"Maybe ah was happy when ah was dyin' , Rogue! You took mah away from
de peace ah wanted! Mah soul ... she felt so pure, unlike anyt'ing
ah
ever felt before, an' you forced mah back to life, to what? Live out
yer dumb fantasy o' livin' wit'out our powers? Did you ever t'ink o'
how ah feel?" He grabbed Rogue by her shoulders, shaking her slightly
as he finally vented out all that hidden anger towards her. For her
forcing him to live, to be completely powerless, to be so miserable
on this planet, now. " Did you ever t'ink o' what ah wanted. Rogue?
Non, you never did ... it was always about you! YOU needed mah to
live fer you, so you could live out yer dumb dreams an' fantasies
about us! You took mah away from de only peace ah ever felt... de
peace ah wanted! Ah was happy, and you took it all away fer yer own
selfish purposes ... never t'inkin' about mah at all!"
"Remy, calm down! You're just upset, Sugah... Trust mah, when you let
that feeling pass, you'll feel better and enjoy bein' alive and
without your powers... You'll..." Rogue spoke to him in that honey
coated Southern accent of hers, looking up into those red on black
eyes with her green ones. The gentle breeze had blow Remy's bangs to
the sides, slightly, she could now see the pain in those eyes, the
misery he was in. She tried to complete her sentence, but was quickly
cut off once more by Remy.
"What? Now you gonna tell mah how to feel?! Ah can' believe ah came
crawling back to you all dem times ... you nuthin' but a selfish
woman, who only cares about herself an' her stupid dreams!" Remy
nearly had tears in his red on black eyes as he looked at Rogue. She
was making him so angry and upset, and it looked like she hardly
cared, that she was still sticking to this pathetic fantasy of the
two of them together, living happily ever after like in a children's
story. That's all it was, a pathetic little girl's story that had no
hopes of coming true, not now, anyway. He quickly shoved Rogue away
from him, his angry at a boiling point as those red on black eyes
stare down at her, watching her open her mouth to try and convince
him that he was over reacting or something to that extent, but before
she could, he spoke first. "Ah can' live in yer fantasies anymore,
Chere... It's over ... ah can' be wit' you non more!" Before Rogue
could even respond to that, Remy had jumped over the Garden wall and
started walking away from the X-Treme X-Men's new base, in hopes of
cooling off, and perhaps figuring out where his life will go, without
the thorn in his side, Rogue.
_______________________________________________________________
Logan, the mutant known as Wolverine sat about the table outside the
new home of the X-Treme X-Men, listening to the happiness of his
teammates and former teammates. Logan was dressed in a white tank top
with a blue flannel shirt over it, a pair of tight blue jeans upon
his short frame, and a pair of cowboy boots on his feet. His black
hair was pointed on either side of his head, giving him an odd, yet
feral look, and those ice blue eyes watched the party before him, as
he held a beer in hand. He watches as Kurt teased Kitty and Storm to
no end, Hank talking to Sage about medical science, and Jean trying
to talk with Storm, only to continue to be interrupted by Kurt's
playful antics. He noticed two members missing from the party, which
celebrated the X-Treme X-Men saving the world from a strange, new
alien race. He noticed Remy had left the party early, seeming highly
depressed and agitated, then Rogue leave a few minutes later to go
talk to him. He let out a sigh, knowing what Remy was going through,
to some extent.
He remembered once nearly dying and being around that comforting
light, how wonderful one's soul could feel in that light. But he came
back, to save Jean from getting sucked out of the Blackbird on their
reentry to Earth, after trying to defeat Magneto, whom at the time,
tore his adamantium skeleton from his body through every single pore
of his body. Logan knew hoe Remy must have felt, wanting to go back
to that light, to be at peace for once in his pained existence. He
truly felt it was wrong for Rogue to force Remy to come back to the
living, if he wanted to die, it should have been on his terms, not
hers. But then again, he had grown very close to Remy, and would have
missed his presence, that sly smile of his during battle, that cocky
attitude he had when it came to being criticized about how late he
would come home, and how he would miss Danger Room session from time
to time. But perhaps this wasn't just fondness Logan had felt towards
Remy ... perhaps it was love.
Logan was always close to Remy in battle, and the two slowly became
friend after a while. He always thought his attraction to Remy was
due to his charm abilities, that he was charming people to get them
to like him, in fear they would hate him or hurt him if he had not
done so. But once Remy left the mansion and joined the X-Treme X-Men,
that Logan realized it wasn't Remy's charm abilities at all, but that
it was love for the young man. He frowned at the thought, thinking
that it almost sounded like a school girl crush. He loved the way
Remy looked, those stunning red on black eyes, that small, sleek
frame of his while in the shower after a Danger Room Session, those
long chestnut locks of hair, his scent ... it was all so exotic,
making him stand out from any other man or woman in Logan's life. But
he never thought he had a chance with Remy ... for Remy was a real
ladies man. He never appeared to be attracted to men at all, always
bringing home a new woman from night to night, then he had stopped
that when he met Rogue.
Damn Rogue. She treated Remy horribly at times, flirting with him to
no end, knowing he couldn't touch her at all, and when he attempted
to, she would yell or slap him across his face. He knew how
frustrated Remy had become with Rogue's little game, but the two
slowly became closer ... only to be torn apart by one kiss. When
everyone thought the world was going to end, Rogue had grabbed Remy
and forced her lips upon him into a brutal kiss, one that left him
in
a coma for nearly three weeks. She took off, leaving him alone in the
medical lab of the mansion. She never called or asked how he was
doing, nor saw him. Only Storm, Hank, and himself were Remy's only
visitors, stopping by to talk with his lifeless body from time to
time, holding his hand, saying he would make it, that he'd be okay,
Storm even read to him at times, in hopes of comforting him. Soon,
Remy woke up, and quickly went after Rogue, despite the fact he was
still healing and his body wasn't a hundred present. He had found
her, only to be nearly killed by her and left alone, once more. All
from some Memories Remy had locked away in his mind.
Logan remembered how depressed Remy had become, sitting alone in his
room, and even crying at times, blaming himself for everything and
for Rogue leaving. Storm tried to comfort him, but it hardly helped
at all. he once talked to Remy, trying to calm him down and comfort
him as well, even almost admitting his love for the young, handsome,
Cajun. But he couldn't do it, feeling he would take advantage of the
situation. Soon after Rogue left, she returned, and with what seemed
to be a new love interest. Remy had become furious, even jealous over
the new man Rogue had brought back to the mansion, a clone of Magneto
known as Joseph. Logan figured Rogue just did that to make Remy
jealous, and it worked like a charm. However, things soon went
further down hill from there.
Remy was forced into a mock trial and his worst secret revealed, that
he created the Maurders and had part in the Morlock Massacre. He had
tried so hard to stop it from happening, but failed, only to save one
victim, the mutant known as Marrow. Rogue became furious, along with
other X-Men, leaving Remy behind in Antarctica, in a frozen wasteland
to die alone. He somehow survived, only to return and try to make
amends with Rogue. He always came crawling back to her, no matter how
many times she had hurt him, either with words, abandoning him in a
frozen waste land, or physical abuse, Remy always came back for more.
This fact angered Logan, he figured Remy was a bit messed up,
thinking the abuse was love ... that he deserved what he got and that
it was all out of love.
*Damn kid ... why's he always so desperate fer love like that? He's
always gettin' hurt, and crawls back for more every damn time!* Logan
thought as he played around with a bottle of beer in his hand,
watching the others while he was brooding over Remy and how he was
treated. *He deserves so much more... I wished he'd just let me show
him that he doesn't need to be hurt to feel love... I can't even
believe I'm thinking this. If the others heard, they'd think I wasn't
so tough, now would they?* His thoughts were soon interrupted as
Rogue walked back to the party, in tears. Jean quickly went over to
her, asking what was wrong, if she was all right.
"Remy ... he left mah..." Rogue choked out between sobs, as she wiped
the tears from her eyes, looking up at all the guests. "He ... he
just blew up and ran off ... he broke up with me."
*Kid's finally growing a backbone to her* Logan thought as he slowly
got up from the table. Everyone else was already moving about Rogue,
saying how sorry they were for her and such, while no one attempted
to go look for Remy and comfort him. This must have been really hard
for him to do, since he was unable to do it before. Logan simply
walked out of the party, while no one was looking or seemed to care
at the moment. He quickly sniffed the air, taking in Remy's scent and
following it out of the Garden and down the cobble streets of New
Orleans.
______________________________________________________
Remy walked down a lonely street in New Orleans, he could hear
footsteps upon the cobble stones that sounded like someone with a
fancy pair of shoes on, or a woman with a pair of high heels walking
towards him. He had a bad feeling, being out alone on these streets,
a feeling he never had before, once when he was a child, but never
as
an adult. Maybe that was because he had his powers back then, and
could easily defend himself against a large crowd of people, whereas
now, he only had his wits, his charm, and his fighting skills, and
those could only go so far without his powers. He slowly came to a
stop and turned around, thinking it was probably Rogue and a few
other X-Men trying to coax him into going back to the party, but as
soon as he turned around, his handsome face went pale at the site
before him.
Remy found himself surrounded by a bunch of men in white face masks
with blue body suits, all pointing guns at him, mainly directed at
his head. Behind these men was a large man in an overcoat, with long
black sideburns and his lengthy black hair tied into a ponytail
behind his head. He simply smirked over at Remy as he was now
surrounded on the empty street of his hometown, flashing his pearly
white teeth at the young Cajun, then slowly speaking to him.
"Ah, young Remy LeBeau, still as handsome looking as ever, are we? I
would advise you try not to do anything stupid and just come along
with me." The voice said, sounding eerily familiar. It as Sebastian
Shaw, leader of the rich and powerful Hellfire Club. They had
chapters all over the world, and were just a bunch of snobs in Remy's
eyes.
"Ain' non way in hell ah'd go wit' you, Shaw... What de hell do you
want, anyway? Why non go after de full group o' X-Men?" Remy spat
out, quickly moving into a defensive position, ready for an attack
by
any of the men who had surrounded him. Those red on black eyes slowly
narrowed into slits as he watched Shaw move an inch closer to him,
making him feel more uncomfortable.
"Because, Remy, my dear boy. I have no interest in them It is you I
want, and you alone I shall have." Sebastian has replied in a "matter
of fact" tone of voice. He simply smirked as the young Cajun slowly
started to back up a little, trying to give himself more room, only
to bump into a woman with long brown hair that went to her waist,
dressed in a black catsuit with the zipper pulled down her chest
slightly, showing a pair of well rounded cleavage, and a pair of
black knee high boots, with laces up the middle and heels at least
three inches tall. It was Shaw's new partner in crime, the delectable
Martinique Davis, better known as Mastermind the Second, a mutant who
could alter reality and the thoughts of others through illusions, all
at the snap of a finger. Sebastian simply nodded her head as Remy
slowly turned to look behind him and face Mastermind the Second.
"So sorry about this, darling ... but it'll be over real quick." She
stated, quickly taking out a tazer from behind her back and quickly
pressing it against Remy's hips, forcing a jolt of electricity
through his body. A small smirk came across her face as she watched
the young man scream in pain, and fall to the ground, twitching
slightly from the amount of electricity used. Martinique slowly knelt
down near the fallen man, gently putting him on his back, looking
down at a bloodstain on his chest in awe.
"Open his shirt up! He should not be bleeding from that attack!" Shaw
yelled at Martinique, kneeling down with her as he watched the woman
tear open Remy's gray T-shirt, revealing an opened gash on his chest,
which was bleeding slightly, a few metal pieces falling out of the
wound, smaller than an inch in height and width.
"They appear to be some Nano Bots... from the looks of it, they were
repairing the wound on his chest." Martinique slowly looked up at
Shaw, a small smile upon her pale face as she spoke. "The taser must
have short circuited them and slightly burned the wound. No matter,
I
believe the scar that will form on his chest now will make him more
appealing."
"Indeed they shall." A small nod came from Sebastian Shaw as he
slowly rose up to his feet, along with Mastermind. He made a single
to the men around him to pick Remy up and carefully. "Come, make sure
his wounds are stitched up properly, for when he awakens, it shall
be
mine to train our new pet to the Hellfire Club." And as mysteriously
as the group of people appeared, they had vanished, leaving behind
a
taser, a few drops of blood upon the cobble stone street, and a few
tiny silver dots, which were once the Nano Bots repairing Remy's
chest wound, from his stab wound at the hands of Vargas.
