Frakes-KY used to be known as Linda-KY. In the late-1930's, or early-
1940s, it was renamed Frakes, after Rev. Hiram Frakes, who had started
Henderson Settlement. Steve lost his left leg in a mining accident when
he was just a young man. He walked on crutches for the rest of his life.
He operated the Pearl Post Office for over 40 years and a grocery store
for almost 50 years at Pearl, KY. His leg is buried at the George Partin
Cemetery somewhere near the graves of his two brothers.
Lona took care of the family farm.

Walter B. Cobb
was a Navy war hero during WWII.
He was a Coxstwain aboard the
USS West Virginia, at Pearl Harbor.
He was killed off of Savo Island during the
Guadalcanal campaign, in August of 1942,
while volunteering as a gunner, for which
he postumously won the Silver Star.
The USS Walter B.Cobb was
christened by his mother in 1944.
