On the 2nd day of May, A.D., One Thousand Nine Hundred and 07 personally appeared before me, a deputy clerk within and for the County and State, aforesaid JOHN GILBERT, who, being duly sworne according to law, declares that he is 71 years of age, and a resident of Doorway, County of Owsley, State of Kentucky; and that he is the identical person who was enrolled at Irwin, Ky, under the name of John Gilbert, on the 10th day of October, 1862, as a Private in Co. I, 14th Regiment, Volunteer Cavalry, in the service of the United States, in the Civil War, and was Honorably Discharged at Camp Nelson, Ky, on the 24th day of March, 1864. That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise then above. That his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height: 5 feet 10 inches, Complexion: fair, Color of eyes: blue, Color of hair: black, that his occupation was farmer, and he was born July 5th 1835, at Madison County, Ky. That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Perry and Owsley County, Ky. That he is a pensioner. That he has heretofore applied for pension. His Certificate Number is 496150. That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provision of the Act of February 6, 1907. That his post office address is Doorway, County of Owsley, State of Kentucky. John Gilbert Attest (1) Elijah Bolin (2) Noah Gilbert and Noah Gilbert, residing in Owsley County, Ky, persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me duly sworn to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of the claimant and their aquaintance with him of 15 and 25 years, respectively, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be, and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.
