Rev. Gray was the founder and pastor of the Freedom Baptist Church in his
home of Stahlheber Road on August 10, 1963; on December 8, 1963, he moved
the church to 5th and Walnut Streets in Hamilton and in January of 1966
purchased the church on Fairview Avenue; retiring from active pastorship
and became an evangelist until poor health prevented him from active
ministry. He participated in the dedication of the new location of Freedom
Baptist Church on Millville Avenue in March of 1992. He was employed as a
carpenter for Local #113 for 30 years, retiring in 1977.
