The will of Ambrose Cobb's grandfather, also named Ambrose Cobb, was not to be settled until after the death of his wife, which appears to be around 1815, and after which, young Ambrose filed two documents for the lawful heirs of Ventner Cobb's share, one in 1818 Clay Co, KY, and one in 1815 Knox Co, KY The following is from one filed in Clay County, KY: (To view appointment in KNOX CO, KY, click here) |
. . . . Sally Payne, . . . . John Cobb, . . . . Ambrose Cobb, . . . . William Cobb, . . . . Jenne Arnold, . . . . Polly Fain, . . . . Robert Cobb, . . . . Thomas Cobb, and . . . . Ralph Cobb heirs and representatives of Ventner Cobb deceased, have made, ordained, constituted and appointed and by these presents do make, ordain, constitute and appoint William Miller of the County of Knox and State of Kentucky, our true and lawful attorney for us and in our name to collect all monies, dues and demands which is coming to us in the State of North Carolina or coming to our father Ventner Cobb deceased, from the estate of our grandfather Ambrose Cobb deceased, and receipt in our names and to sue in our names if necessary for the same and to do or cause to be done any and every other act which we could do were we personally present and whatever our said attorney may do or cause to be done in the premises aforesaid, we by these presents ratify and forever confirm as if done by ourselves. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 12th day of September 1818.
