Shows - August 8, 2002
Gregory Page

A Gregory Page show, especially at an intimate venue like Meeting Grace, can be a religious experience. With his remarkable voice and extensive song catalog, Page takes you with him through his experiences of love, loss and revelation. Scheduled opener, Tom Brosseau had unexpected business, so was unable to appear this night. That meant that everyone in attendance was treated to a full evening of Gregory Page, two nights before his planned departure to France for an extended visit and vacation.

Diving deep into that impressive song catalog, Page offered up melodic goodies like "That's How You Came to Me," "Cocktails and Cold Hearts" and "Always" (the song that was featured on the WB television show "Felicity"). Satisfying some of the more die-hard fans, Page even delivered classics from his first release "The Romantic Adventures of Harry," including "Goodnight Saturday Night" and "The Last Train."

Solid songwriting and masterful delivery accurately describe Page tunes written alone ("So Happy," "November Night") or as a co-write ("Great Mystery" with Steve Poltz, "Roses in the Sand" with Sally Taylor). Plus he can belt out traditional ballads with the best of them ("Parting Glass").To wrap up a full evening of sweet music, Page left us with a tune from one of his songwriting heroes, Mr. James Taylor's "Hey Mister, That's Me Up on the Jukebox."

Thanks to Gregory and all who attended this great evening. And best of everything to you, Gregory, in your travels.
