He’s perfect for lovers. And it being the day after Valentine’s
Day, it didn’t matter if your heart was broken or you were bursting from love-joy,
because Gregory Page understands both sides of the coin.
Focusing mostly on tracks from his latest release, "And I Look Up," Page displayed
his skilled musicianship on the guitar and his strong earthy voice.
Joining us that evening were members of the crew for a new TV show called
"King Arthur’s Music Palace" that will be airing this spring. Delmus Jefrey
set up a camera and other gear to get a few scenes of Gregory. They also conducted
an interview with Mr. Page and with yours truly that will be included in the
show. Updates will be posted here or emailed so you can you when and where
to tune in.
Page brought along a pump organ and a synthesizer that he would alternately
employ for different songs. To conclude his first set, he let the ‘Casio’
give its version of "Ave Maria."
The evening again included brownies, courtesy of the Big Kitchen, and cookies
and bread baked by Meeting Grace friends, Katie & Beth. For his second set,
Gregory continued with songs from "And I Look Up" like "Roses in the Sand"
which he co-wrote with Sally Taylor, daughter of James Taylor and Carly Simon.
Page also threw in songs from previous releases including "The Last Train"
and "Goodnight Saturday Night" from "The Romantic Adventures of Harry" album.
From "Fare Thee Well," Page performed "Diamonds and Gold" and "Walkin’ in
the Park" among others.
Throughout the evening, Page shared personal stories, like how he reunited
with his biological father in Paris and was inspired to write "How You Came
to Me." He made folks laugh and sigh with musical bliss. His voice soared
through the rooms and over the house and was an umbrella of sound and earthly
tones that sheltered us from the unceasing rain.
Thanks again to Gregory Page for another incredible evening at Meeting Grace.
