In a rare 2-night engagement, fans filled the house again to see and hear the incredible duo of Berkley Hart and to gather as we welcomed the new season of summer.
To begin this show, the American Folk Singers (Gregory Page and Tom Brosseau) came on to infuse the whole room with their plaintive voices and sure-fire versions of such classic folk tunes as "Lost Highway," "Mule Skinner" and "Goodnight, Irene" among others. These two call on the influences of those past to teach people now of the joy that can be found in the same music.
Joining Berkley Hart on this night for a bit was a cameraman from local news channel 8, KFMB. He was getting footage for a Larry Himmel segment that would air later in the month. Life the previous night, Berkley Hart burned their own brand into others' tunes including Gregory Page's "Great Wild Beyond" and Bob Marley's "Stir It Up." Much to the happy ears of the crowd, Berkley Hart revived some songs that had been out of commission, including Hart's "Up the River" and "Mr. Used-to-Be" and Berkley's "All Roads Lead to You."
And not to disappoint anyone, they also performed what have become crowd favorites and part of their "greatest hits" list such as, "High School Town," "Wake Up Charlie" and "Barrel of Rain." Coming back after another redeeming sing-along of "This Land is Your Land," Jeff & Calman left us with a story of that boy we've all come to know and love, "Elvis Einstein."
Thanks again to everyone who was able to join us for the 2nd annual summer solstice celebration with Berkley Hart at Meeting Grace!
