She couldn’t take it anymore. Melfina fell to her knees. She was so tired.

“Melfina!” Gene cried out. He ran back to her. “We have to keep running!”

“Gene.” Melfina looked at him with sad eyes.

Gene grabbed her form the ground and held her tight. “It’s going to be okay. We just have to keep going until we can figure something out.”

“Gene-alright.” Melfina held his hand tight as they continued to run. Why was this happening to them? And, why was Gene trying to stay so strong? Was it for her sake? No, it was for all their sakes. Melfina felt the tears run freely.

Aisha was running ahead of Melfina and Gene with Jim, and to their side, Proteus was helping a wounded Suzuka. The question was, where were they running to? Aisha suddenly stopped. “We can’t go any farther!” They were all faced by cold, watery, icy depths.

Jaguar smiled. He didn’t have to follow them. He had perfect eyesight. How funny, they didn’t get far. “I’ll deal with this. You boys done enough.” Jaguar promptly disappeared.

Ronald MacDougall looked at the spot his, so called, new partner had disappeared. He was contemplating if they should continue to do business with Jaguar. Ron didn’t want Harry and himself too deep in this mess. If Kat refused to get mixed up in this, maybe that was a sign of sorts. “Lets go Harry.”

He didn’t understand why they should leave. They were winning against those…misfits. “Don’t you want to see how Starwind is going to die?” Harry definitely wanted to see how horrid Jaguar was going to make their deaths.

“What, are you deaf?! I said let’s go!” They already got paid in full, time to make a clean break. ‘No sense getting anymore shit on my boots.’ Ron thought.

Harry nodded without another word. He just wanted to see them pay for what they did to him and his brother. Harry’s gaze sudden fell to the ground. ‘Kat. What happened to her?’ Harry thought as he shook his head.

<I’m doing the right thing, aren’t I?> Kat didn’t know. This situation was confusing her. She figured it was best just to disappear.

                <You should know.> a voice spoke.

At first, Kat was startled but soon recognized the voice, <Don’t you know?>

<I know it’s a good thing you decided to stay here, but to know if you’re doing the right or wrong thing is another matter.> The voice was calm and serene as it spoke.

Anytime she spoke with this…she guessed it was a spirit, she got more confused. She didn’t know what to do. If she was discovered that was it, but if Jim was caught that was also it; the end of the whole universe not just one person. Kat sighed.

<What have you decided to do?> The voice held a hint of sadness. In a spirit-like form, it had traveled with her for a long time, staying neutral in such conflicts that dealt with The Dark Stars. It has been such a long time, and it was soon time.

<I don’t have much of a choice, do I? Selfish me, or the universe.> Kat said.

<May I suggest something, Little One?> Kat nodded. <The indirect approach is always better in cases such as this.> the voice faded away. It could always suggest things; it is still being neutral.

Landing on the ground a few feet away from them, “Thought you could run away and actually get somewhere. What a shame.” Jaguar said shaking his head. He had them trapped. Meat tasted best raw. A smile graced his face.

He was going to take Jim away. Their family would be broken. She had finally found a place where she belonged and she wasn’t about to let it be destroyed. Aisha growled in annoyance, “If I were you I would keep moving, ‘cause I’m about to rip you apart.” Aisha’s muscles began to bulk.

Jaguar shook his head. “Must I teach you another lesson Ctarl-Ctarl. I’ll let you in on a little secret. Even if you do decide to use your transformation, you’re really no match for me. It may sound conceited of me, but fact is fact.”

He was trying to intimate her, wasn’t he? Aisha could care less. She had to rise to the occasion. She wasn’t about to let someone who looked human scare her. Aisha felt energy build up around her. Jim and the others stepped away from her. She felt a sense of pride as she felt her body change.

Jaguar didn’t even bother to look at her transformation and yawned. When she was done, “Finally.”

This enraged the transformed Ctarl-Ctarl. Aisha raced toward him with full speed.

Jaguar seemed to disappear. This confused the Ctarl-Ctarl. “I told you that it would be a waste of time.” he said as he kicked Aisha from behind. He appeared in front of her and delivered a round house kick to her neck. Aisha didn’t move.

                “NO!” Jim screamed.

“What a shame! I only used my Ki, no magic necessary.” Jaguar laughed adding insult to injury.

Aisha transformed back to her original form. “Jim.” she whispered. She watched helplessly as Jaguar picked her up by her hair.

“Stop!! Stop, please. Leaver her alone!!” Jim cried out. He couldn’t let her die. He didn’t want anyone else to get hurt on his account.

Jaguar looked at him with blood lusting eyes. Why was this boy interrupting him? Then again, the boy was the reason he was here. “Boy.” Jaguar corrected himself. “James Hawking, come with me. You and I are on the same side. You must understand this. You hold something that my masters want, so therefore we aren’t enemies. Come with me James Hawking.”

Something in him surged, as if it knew what Jaguar said was true, but for Jim it wasn’t; they weren’t friends. The thing inside of him was taking him toward Jaguar. Jim felt his legs walk on their own. He screamed to it that he didn’t want to go, but the thing inside of him screamed back pushing him back to the darkest parts of consciousness.

“Jim, don’t!!” Gene shouted. Gene grabbed onto Jim’s arms, but Jim was still walking toward Jaguar dragging Gene behind him. “Jim, buddy, I know you’re in there. Fight it!”

A small hand grabbed onto Gene’s wrist, “I will take you to your destiny Guardian. You will die, just as it was always meant to be.” Jim continued to drag Gene toward Jaguar.

That voice. He knew that voice. It was the voice from the incident with Rongo and earlier that day with Kat. And what was meant by ‘as it was meant to be’? What was this-‘Uriel’ talking about? Gene struggled to get out of Jim’s grasp, but Jim was too strong.

Melfina ran to Gene. “Let him go!” Melfina cried. The tears never did stop flowing. Melfina stood in front of Jim. “Jim, please.” Her voice was pleading with the boy who stopped in front of her.

He looked up at her and smiled a child like smile. “Don’t worry Melfina. It will be alright.” he said in Jim’s voice.

Melfina looked amazed, and a smile was growing on her face.

The child like smile disappeared and was replaced by a look of disgust. “I will not be told what to do by a bio android pawn! Out of my way.” the dark voice said as its aura flared and knocked Melfina aside.

Jaguar smiled. This was easier than he thought it would be. The only person that almost stood a chance against him wasn’t here. It was almost like taking candy from a baby, but in this case he was robbing the cradle.

Suddenly, the earth below them shook. A large wave could be seen racing toward them. This wave stood directly behind an injured Suzuka and helping Proteus. It transformed into a Dragon of pure water. The Dragon opened its mouth and energy erupted from it and headed toward Jaguar.

Jaguar’s reflexes kicked in and he held up a magical shield. As the energy passed him, it seemed his shield wasn’t enough. His body was swelling all over with third degree burns. How was this happening? He again didn’t sense anything. Jaguar fell flat on his face. “Tell me who you are?” Jaguar whispered through the pain. His whisper was loud enough for all to hear.

His only answer was another wave of energy coming his way. This was the end for him, wasn’t it? He was so close to fulfilling his masters’ desires for the boy-Jim. All was not lost for him, five hooded figures stood in front of him and held a shield. “You’re still needed Jaguar.” the one at right end said. The energy disbursed on impact.

“There is still much to do.” the second from the right said.

“We shall leave, for now.” the middle figure spoke. The figure turned toward Jim and said, “You shall grow, then we shall become one.” All the figures disappeared, including the severely burned Jaguar.

Gene felt his wrist fall free to his side. “Jim?” He didn’t know if it was Jim anymore.

“Gene? Gene, did I do something?” Jim fell to his knees. He had disappeared. He hated that feeling. Jim buried his head in his hands and cried. What was happening to him?

Gene felt sympathy for him. Jim was his little brother, he even considered him a son. “It’s okay. Let is out buddy.” Gene embraced Jim, as Jim cried freely into his chest.

Proteus looked at the Dragon. “Thanks!” he shouted as the Dragon fell back into the water. He was happy something had happened, and it was a good thing. Proteus now looked at Suzuka, she didn’t look so good; she looked pale. “We should get going.”

Suzuka could only nod. She felt terrible for feeling so weak against an enemy. Her gaze fell on Aisha. Poor girl. She couldn’t even help her, and Melfina even tried to help. What were they going to do? Their enemy over powered them in so many ways. Suzuka shook her head. What were they going to do?

She sat quietly in the darkness of the room looking into nothingness. She couldn’t believe it. The actually showed themselves, and …. Kat’s thoughts were interrupted by the light switch being turned on. Kat didn’t even bother to look at the newcomers; she already knew who they were.

Just the sight of her made him swell with anger. Here she was sitting in the safeness of the house they were currently staying at. She just left them all, fully knowing they needed her help, and where was she? No where to be found, that’s where. “If you’re not going to help, I want you out of my sight!!” Proteus screamed carrying a sleeping Aisha.

Kat knew why he was angry with her, but it was okay. It was understandable. Without looking at him, Kat rose from her spot and disappeared through a door. She was meet by darkness, and she sat again thinking.

Proteus placed Aisha into a regeneration chamber and dressed Suzuka’s wounds. Gene placed Jim into bed, and made sure Melfina was okay before kissing her forehead before she went to bed. The remaining of the night was peaceful.
