The Soul of The Stars.
They walked down the long hall slowly.
Suzuka walked on the left side of Kat while Gene
walked on Kat’s right side, leaving Kat in the middle of the two. Melfina was in the middle of Aisha
and Proteus. Proteus held Melfina’s hand trying to
show her that everything was going to be fine; he gave her the physical and
emotional support she needed.
Aisha
smiled at the two. They would make a cute couple. “So, after this, why don’t we
all get a huge dinner with all the deserts we can stuff our faces with.” Aisha said. Things were
just too quiet, and the mood was so dreary. “But of course Kat’s not invited.” Aisha noticed Kat didn’t make a retort.
Suzuka
knew what Aisha was trying to do, but things were
confusing and still no one had answers, or would share those answers. “I could
go for a meal right now.”
“I could go for a strawberry
sundae.” Melfina said.
“A juicy steak would be nice.”
Proteus added.
“That sounds nice with a side of
mash potatoes with tons of gravy.” Gene said patting his stomach.
They waited for Kat to say
something, anything, but she continued to walk without a sound. The doors were
closer now, and for Kat it seemed to be the only thing in her reality. Those
doors were her fate, all their fates were behind those
large doors. Kat was now in front of the door, ready to push it open, but
something stopped her.
“Kat, don’t you want anything? A Hyper Ginceta maybe.” Proteus
asked. He couldn’t help but worry. She was so quiet, even when they were
walking down the long hallway her footsteps were quiet. Proteus turned her
around and lifted her chin so he could look into her eyes. She had locked
herself away from him again. What was she hiding from him?
Gene didn’t miss the fallen
expression on Proteus’ face. Something was going on between the two, and he
didn’t like it. He didn’t know if it was jealousy, or the feeling of not
knowing. “Well, if Jim’s behind this door lets go get him.”
“Right.”
Aisha said opening the door. She walked forward into
the large room with the others not too far behind. Aisha
noticed Proteus was keeping Kat behind him, almost as if he was hiding her.
The Dark Stars stood cloaked and
hooded in front of the group. They didn’t see her or sense her. What was going
on here?
The Knight of Balance stepped
forward, “I see that you’re still alive Gene Starwind.”
His green frosted eyes seemed to be searching the group before him.
Gene smirked. “It takes more
than something as ugly as that Dogen to get rid of
me. Now, where’s Jim?!” He was through playing this game.
The Dark Stars moved aside
revealing a small figure sitting in on a throne looking chair. Jim opened his
eyes to stare at Gene. “Gene, is that really you?”
“Yeah, it’s me buddy. Are you
okay?” Gene smiled. He was so relieved Jim was okay.
Jim smiled at Gene and nodded.
“He’s yours, Gene Starwind.” The Knight of Mystery said. Her tone held light
humor. Everything was going so well.
Jim practically flew from his
seat into Gene’s arms hugging the older man for dear life. Jim, secretly,
smiled cruelly as Gene held him. She was here, and there was no escaping for
her.
Kat’s eyes focused on Jim. She
saw that smile, and now she knew who he was and who she was to The Dark Stars.
To Proteus’ surprise, she walked casually toward Gene. Kat knocked Jim away
from Gene, and energy erupted from her hand toward the fallen Jim. Jim was the
light which held the darkness, and that would mean she was The Dark Stars’…
Gene looked at Kat in anger.
What the hell was she doing? She promised him that they would get Jim back, and
now she’s attacking Jim. “Kat…”
“I’ve figured it out. I know
what I am to you.” Kat said aloud.
He smiled secretly, his haunting
blue eyes flashing. He knew she would figure them out sooner or later. But it
was already too late, she had already walked into
their trap. The Knight of Intelligence spoke, “That’s why I love you so, but it doesn’t change anything
that will transpire here today. There are six of us now, and the sixth is more
powerful than Jabal.” Tai suddenly appeared in front
of Kat caressing her face. “The odds are against you Katrina.”
A dark shadow arose from Jim’s
body. “I won’t be needing his body anymore.” the dark
voice laughed as the shadow grew. Jim’s body floated towards Aisha. It was finally time. Time for destruction. Time for the
universe to return to the darkness.
The Knight of Spirituality
tossed his wavy raven hair from his indigo eyes and smiled. The Guardian looked
so confused. “Gene Starwind, don’t you know what’s
going on here?!”
Gene turned to the conceited man
known as Reginald with confusion and fear in his eyes. He didn’t understand. He
didn’t think anyone of them understood, expect for
Kat, what was going on here. Why was he left in the dark? He was scared, just
like the time when he was up against Eltanin. He
couldn’t think, his mind was a blank.
Her blood red hair shook with laughter.
What a guardian he was. Her green eyes filled with excitement. “Gene Starwind, we have won the war. Now we shall claim our
prize.” The Knight of War said. Morrigan’s voice was
dark and cold when she said this.
“You handed us the very one you
were suppose to protect on a silver platter, and for that I promise you and
your friends the quickest death.” Jabal’s laughter
echoed throughout the room. As he laughed his blue hair and green eyes seemed
to dance in mockery.
Realization finally hit him. “Uriel. Kat is Uriel.”
Gene said in an unsteady voice. ‘Why did it have to be her?!’ his mind shouted.
Past images of Katrina as a little girl entered his mind. She was telling him
that she didn’t want him to be her knight in shinning armor and that her father
and mother had made a huge mistake choosing him to protect her. At that time
she was four and he was seven. He was actually willing to protect her at the
time; he had promised. He remembered now, but it was too late.
“Correction.
Katrina is Uriel. There is no Kat.” Tai spoke harshly
toward Gene. His blue eyes looked at Gene with great hatred.
Suzuka
watched as Kat/Katrina began to back away from the huge dark shadow and the
Knight of Intelligence. She could sense the shadow’s power, and it was
powerful. “Everyone run!!” she shouted. This was something they couldn’t face.
They had walked right into the enemy’s hands, almost willingly. How could they,
how could she have been so stupid?!
Before she could get her feet off the floor, her body was caught in thick black vines. They were beginning to wrap themselves around her form, reeling her towards the laughing shadow. Kat struggled as hard as she could but she couldn’t free herself. Her powers were failing her. Why did she figure this out so late, why not sooner?
Proteus pulled at the vines. He
couldn’t let them take Kat. He didn’t want Kat to go away. He needed her. “Let
go!!” he shouted. Proteus was painfully introduced to the floor.
Proteus’ shouting snapped Gene
out of his shocked state. Maybe it wasn’t too late. Maybe he could change this.
Gene began to fire his caster at the huge shadow, which seemed to cast darkness
over the room. The dark shadow laughed as it dodged Gene’s shots. Gene began to
fire at the vines, but every time he got rid of one, several would take its
place. He fought with the vines as Kat’s form began to disappear. He grabbed
onto her hands. “No, I wouldn’t let them take you!!” Gene shouted as he pulled
with all his might. Kat was a pain in his ass and he hardly wanted her around,
but something happened to change that.
Tai laughed at the display of
Gene and his friends as they tried to save Katrina. “Try as you might dear
Guardian, but you see, your friend Jim’s light was the
resource we needed to accomplish our task of over-coming Katrina. He was a
delicious meal for our friend the Darkness, and now our friend is more powerful
than Katrina is currently.” The Knight of Intelligence smiled cruelly. Things
had went as planned. With the combined power of all
those dark souls and Jim’s light, the prize would be theirs.
The group was knocked to the
floor as the vines, which held Kat, receded back towards the dark shadow. It
began to glow with an immense light.
“Enjoy what little time you have
left in this forsaken universe.” Desdemona giggled. It was finally time. They had gotten their prize, and all that was left was
their goal.
Each Dark Star began to glow
their respective color until their forms were pure energy. That energy went
into the shadow. The shadow’s light was now changing colors as it took shape.
She felt so guilty. She didn’t
have anything to feel guilty about but she did. Melfina’s
hands were balled up into fist as she silently cried. The first time she came
here, to the Galactic Leyline, as it was called, she
didn’t know much about herself, and left knowing even less. But now that she
had returned she knew more about herself at the cost of another. “Katrina!!” Melfina shouted with great pain.
He had failed. He failed the one
he was supposed to protect. Gene looked at his caster. It was the first time he
had noticed that he fired it without bullets. Was he powering it with his own
life energy? Would all life end because he failed one person? Gene didn’t
notice the falling ceiling, and sat there staring at the growing shadow figure
whose power was making the building’s structure fall around them.
“Gene, we have to get out of
here or we’ll be crushed.” Proteus said helping Gene to his feet. She was gone,
and there was nothing he could do. There just had to be a way to fix this. Kat
was his only family, and she was a mother to him, a friend, and a little
sister, and at times he did have to father her. But that was Kat, she was like
that. The only expression he never saw on Kat’s face was sadness. She could
smile, laugh, look cold and deadly, but sadness was an expression he had never
seen on her face. He wanted to see that expression; he wanted to feel the pain
she had kept hidden for so long. Kat had to come back to him.
Suzuka
dodged a piece of rubble as she ran. Kat was the most rudest
person she knew, and her stubbornness was worst than a mule, but Kat had saved
their lives on several occasions and that always got extra points in her book.
Action always spoke louder than words, and Suzuka was
going to take it upon herself of returning the favor of saving Kat’s life this
time.
She ran as fast as she could.
Jim hadn’t woken at all, and Aisha was afraid that he
would never wake up. They had gotten Jim back, well his body anyway. Aisha began to look back on her experiences with Kat. It
was almost like having a little sister to tease or to be teased by. It wouldn’t
be the same if Kat didn’t tease her and she didn’t tease Kat, so Kat had to
come back. If she didn’t who would she tease, and who would tease her? It just
wouldn’t be the same.
A form floated above the
establishment that he had been previously occupying during his transformation.
His haunting green-blue eyes held a look of mirth as it gazed over the dead
land as his dragon wings of a red flame stretched out for all to see. He passed his hand through the black flame
that danced on his head with the look of absolute victory. The soul of the
universe would now be claimed by his great power. Creation would now meet the
eternal darkness.
