BISS Ch. Korcula Lyondal After Midnight
(Ch. Korcula Midnight Star Bret D x Ch. Korcula Midnight Lyondal Roze)
2/ 5/95-12/4/07
Leo is our first home-bred champion. Almost from the moment he was born, we realized how special he was going to be to us. With his soft, even temperament, which he inherited from both parents, he is a joy to live with.
He began his show career at 6 months and 1 day with DCA in 1995 in Chicago. He went 2nd in his futurity class, 2nd in Sweeps and placed first in a class of 42 dogs in regular classes. Following DCA, Leo went Best in Sweeps at the Chicagoland specialty with an entry of 147 dogs. Later that same year, Leo was Best in Sweeps at the Davenport specialty as well.
Finishing at the ripe "old" age of 14 months in April, 1996, Leo went on and won 12 Best of Breeds with 6 group placements and placed #18 in breed and #16 in all breed to qualify for the prestigious Top 20 Competition at DCA in 1997. He won an Award of Merit at the Detroit specialty in 1996 when his sire, Ch. Korcula Midnight Star Bret D, won the breed. He also won an Award of Merit the following year at the Detroit specialty following DCA. Leo then retired for a few years, but came back to the show ring for the Dalmatian Club of Detroit's specialty on June 1, 2002. He won Best of Breed at the specialty from the Veteran class. Since then, he has appeared sparingly at specialties in the Veteran Class.
Leo is currently working as our puppy trainer. He takes all puppies under his "wing", both Boxers and Dalmatians, shows them the ropes and teaches them to play. He keeps track of the litters that are born in our house, herds and protects them.
Leo has proven to be everything we wanted in a Dalmatian, soft, sweet, and a joy to be around.
