Drug Education & Awareness
Strategies

Parents are a child's first & foremost important teachers. A young person who communicates well with their parents and is given a chance to overcome their difficulties themselves, will stand a better chance of coping with life than the young person who is over protected or who is left without any guidance.

Young people drink or take drugs for a variety of reasons; to imitate others; experimentation; defiance of authority; emotional and personality problems; peer group pressures; cultural traditions; to have 'fun'; to provide a sense of false courage. These are almost the same reasons adults drink or take drugs.

Students involved in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge need to always remember the ideals of the event and the main reason as to why the event is in place.

LEARN ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG USE, THE REASONS WHY DRUGS ARE HARMFUL AND WAYS TO RESIST PRESSURES TO TRY DRUGS.

STAND UP FOR YOURSELF AND BE STRONG ABOUT YOUR OWN CONVICTIONS WHEN PRESSURED TO USE DRUGS.

ENCOURAGE OTHER STUDENTS TO RESIST DRUGS AND PERSUADE THOSE USING DRUGS TO GIVE IT UP OR SEEK HELP.
