Death of Hugh Macdonald

Hugh E. Macdonald, son of the Late Lt. Gov. Macdonald, died of peritonitis, at Belle Plaine, Iowa, last Monday night. His body escorted by six members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (of which he was a member) arrived here Wednesday morning. Mr. Macdonald was thirty-two years old and leaves a widow and one child. When it became apparent that his life was in danger his sister, Miss Vilna, made preparations for an immediate start for Belle Plaine, but the announcement of the death of her brother came before she left the city.

 

Funeral services were held at his late residence, No. 321 South Campbell St.  at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday which were largely attended, the B.L.E. being present as a body, and the interment was in Lakeview beside his father and elder brotherHon. James H., and Selah Macdonald.
